Yeah, I don't even use my summon on my Shadowdancer. It's just laughable. But, this topic is rather particularly inclined towards the Summon Monster spells for Clerics/Favored Souls and Wizards/Sorcerers, if I recall.

I find them excessively enjoyable, with their variety and general flavor. In fact, the rest of the NWN2 community should be fricking jealous.

The new summons are great - I've had hours of fun with Aedan and his loyal Ropeface and devil-sparrow.
      Eira Skald - Icy bitch.
Karsten Mannerheim - Idealist and murderer.
Vincent Hopkins - Witch Hunter and man of faith.
Aedan Gilter - Dreamer of broken dreams.
Henry L. Jones - Oh god, I can see forever.

Has anyone brought up the mephits? they are sadly underpowered. why do they run into melee combat with 12 hp? i miss my pig!!!

hehe maybe that is why there are sooo many mephit corpses for alchemy.

The system is still relatively new and some creatures need to be tweaked. But, that's why we have this thread. Might not be a bad idea to make this into a sticky perhaps.

That being said, I feel another compliment is due for this idea as a whole. The original summons seemed so bland on their own, not to mention half of them were useless even at low levels. I love all the new additions.

I agree with Silas. The flavor is super tasty. the celestial "bison" made me giggle though. I couldn't figure out why he wasn't attacking then i realized he just didn't have an attack animation

Just to clarify the mephit summons could be really cool specially if you happen to get the right element for a given situation.

I would also LOVE to see a book of summons, so we can pick our summons.

anyway thanks for the work that has gone into this project already.

I almost never used to use summons. I know...kinda silly to give up an extra party member when outnumbered, but I'm kinda silly like that. My new evil dude is different. I've been summoning stuff left and right just to see how they do with augment summons. So far, I have liked the new summoned critters. Down in the sewers, my big-ass centipede-looking thing was cool (sorry...no idea what it actually was since we got swarmed by lizards and were more interested in staying alive than checking out the new summon). The big scorpion is also way cool-looking. And I absolutely love the evil piggy (fiendish boar with glowing blue eyes ftw).

                        They also say: (about wishes)

You can wish in one hand and shite in the other, you'll see which one gets full first.

I can't say I am impressed with any of the CG summons so far. There are none I would call kick ass and I feel they are underpowered when compared to the original summons. I know that running combat simulations for balance of ever possible level pairing is impossible, and I have not had opportunity yet to ask another caster for a summon duel to test my perception.

Could you perhaps provide something a bit more constructive? What suggestions do you have to improve the summons?

I get an level 3 archon with a -1 ab, partly due to having STR 1. it's also got a 1d6 eldritch blast (its only feat) that it doesn't use. it seems really underpowered for a 4th spell level summon; i always go for the Summon III Celestial Bear instead.
Bah, that's too bad. I'll look for another summon to take its place.

I'll also look into the mephits. Seems like anything that isn't melee-based just doesn't work well as a summon.

CGs, I need more feedback to do anything. I've played with them myself and they seem on par for the first three or four levels. If you can be specific about their weaknesses, that would help.
