I'm not going to be nice about this anymore because I'm sick of hearing it. I hate to take this standpoint, but I'm going to. If you can't handle the truth, I wouldn't scroll down anymore.

Experience System
Here's how I feel about this:
Why don't you cry some more?
I am NOT letting you reach level 20 before 5 months, so STOP trying to fight me on it because you're NOT going to win. And don't try to tell me you're not trying to reach it before 5 months because the curve IS 5 months and you're ahead of it! AHEAD OF IT! That means that you are on the path to hitting 20 much sooner than you're supposed to be... but wait, I thought you didn't grind? So my computer is lying to me?
Seriously, all I heard from the beginning posts is "Waaaaaaah! I'm not levelling as fast as -I- want too! Waaaaaah! -I- should be level 10! Waaaaaah! Why didn't I get level 10 before?!" If you were level 10, you'd just be sitting and waiting longer than you have to right now, so I don't see the point?
Did you guys ever think for a moment that "Hey, I might be the reason the DM's put the experience system in place!"
No, of course not. Because, like drivers, everyone thinks they're the best RP'ers. See, the problem is, you want to grind, but I stopped you by having your experience stop itself. However, instead of owning up to the fact that you got all that experience and have to wait for a higher value, you make excuses to feel better about grinding.
"I have nothing else to do but grind! Nobody wants to RP with me so I grind! I'm falling behind so I grind!" And many others...
Uhhh... let me think here. If you were behind... If you were really behind what you should be at... you would be at 200% experience gains wouldn't you? So you wouldn't have trouble getting experience. Oh, but in reality you're not behind at all! You're 35000 experience ahead!
Do you know how many tells I get a day people asking for Experience? Seriously?!
"I'm leaving out of town soon but I don't want to fall behind! Can you give me experience? I planned on getting level 13 this week." <-- really happened
"I died and lost experience, can you give me some?" <-- We make you lose exp on purpose
"Can you bump my start time back so I can be closer to the curve?" <-- Seriously?!
No! Never going to happen! Stop asking, I may even take experience for asking.
And you people who die and lose experience, look on the bright side. You're getting closer to the curve which means you'll get higher gains.
Evil Players
This is what I see with the player base. They want to design characters meant to be high level so they can kill everyone else. That's the whole of their evil plot. That's it... grind until I'm strong and blow people up. You know how long that would take me to invent that as a character? As long as it takes me to click chaotic/evil on the alignment chart and whatever time to grind. There's creativity at work.
Everybody wants to be the Golbez of the Cecil on the server. The Dark Sol of the shining force. The Sephiroth of the Cloud. They just want to hop in and have their plots revolve around "I have super spells! So I just lay waste to the good guys and pat myself on the back!"
*Yawns as he watches the plot unfold* Oh, I'm sorry, I thought there might be a plot in there somewhere but there wasn't. Good story! No, really! I liked when I started the movie I was at the final conflict in the beginning and the movie lasted 1 minute, the time to cast finger of death and the rest of the movie the villain just danced around patting himself on the back! There wasn't any build up to the villain, but I kind of like that in a movie!
See, all those villains in your minds, all those arch bad guys your characters are modelled after, they actually had plots. Kefka went around screwing people over, poisoning towns, enslaving others and building a cult, and guess what, you fight him, once in the story? By the time all his plots came together, he was finally level 20 along the way. The rest of that he did without needing "levels". That's pretty much how all the villains go. So then the question is, why are so few villains going that way on Sundren? The answer? That's as far ahead as they can imagine.
"Because the good guys get plots only!"
*Rolls eyes* Bullshit... I'd like you guys to ask some good players how many plots they got. I came on yesterday and peeked around for people who havn't had plots to run one for, and there was plenty of good aligned characters that didn't. Ironically, some evil aligned came on the same plot.
Villains I like?
I sat and watched evil players on their own will, their OWN will, drag me along on -their- plot -they- invented. I got a tell "This is my plan, think you can help out." I pop in, and what did I see?
A guy stealthed, but not only stealthed, actually in a bush to RP out the stealth! I wanted to slap him with experience just for that alone! Another guy walking along as bait for their plot! They planned it out! That made my job easy, I just had to decide if the bait was enough...
...They grabbed whom they were looking for, took him somewhere, and tortured him for information. Information that helped them raise in the ranks of their evil peers, bringing them closer to their goal of arch-villaindom.
Wait, but... I thought evil didn't have a place? No, that's not the case. You see, there's a thing I learned about being evil. Everybody wants to rule the world, but there's not enough castles to go around. Eventually you either are one of the few baddies, or you work for them.
And for another twist, has anyone considered playing evil on the side of good? An evil who wants people safe in their homes, who wants to stop the undead, who wants to get rid of the Drow, who wants to preserve civilization, but doesn't have any qualms with stuffing it down the throats of those who threaten it? This is probably one of my favorite character designs. The man who enforces law and order heartlessly and cruelly. Nobody can really say anything except "Hey, might want to lighten up there dood. I know we're trying to stop these thieves but, you didn't have to butcher them all." It's the guy paladins can't stand to be around, but they need him just the same because they can't save the world alone. And they can't smite him because he's just doing the dirty work.
So why not try to form some real direction for your evil this time around? DM's aren't against helping people fulfill their plots, but we're not going to hound after you forcing you to tell us all your plots. You're going to have to meet us halfway.

Although thinking back a bit, I guess it should be the Lassic of the Alis, to follow Golbez instead of Zeromus
