You can sell the to some merchants (offhand I only remember Jacoby but there are others too) and make a bit of gold doing it.The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Thanks to Sundren for including this fun hak! There was quite a crowd of would-be fisher folk on the docks last night. Some had better luck than others, some could not get their gear to work for various reasons.
Did some testing with it, and I found a few things to watch out for. The spare fishing lines don't seem to fix your fishing pole when you have a line snap--tried to replace the line 3 or 4 times and ended up buying a new pole altogether. There are not a lot of fishing spots (there seem to be two spots on the docks total), so you sometimes get 'this spot is occupied' or 'there is not good spot here' messages. Also, not sure if this is really the case, but when a dm was standing next to me, it was saying that the spot was occupied even though there was no one else fishing there at the time. Perhaps the dm was fishing as well?

I'll increase the value of fish a bit but beyond that I don't have any plans to do much with the fishing system. People seem to be enjoying it.
Though in the future when we implement crafting certain fish will have highly prized attributes in the crafting process so it will be more than just something to pass time with. The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

One small request on the topic of fishing:
I went around various areas and tested, as well as cracking the angling test module open in the toolset to see how the hak works. As only one PC can use a spot at a time, I think there is a need for more fishing waypoints. I could only find at most two waypoints in any one area (docks), but these get used up very quickly if there are even just a few PCs in the area. There seems to be a slight bug where a waypoint will sometimes register as 'occupied' even when no one else is around. This means that if there is more than one PC fishing in the area, only one can fish (if they are lucky). Just seems like more fun if you can all cast in a line. If there were more waypoints to cast from, this would help eliminate that problem.
It would be fun to be able to fish in more areas, and also some out of the way areas, like the boat dock and the pond in Aquor, the stream at the Post, out on the piers at the Port, etc.
Don't know how much resourses the waypoints take up in the form of script calls, but some more would be welcome (spam them around if you can!
).
Not too bothered about gold or xp from fishing, myself, just really liking the rp aspect. Am on the verge of starting a fisherman character

We disabled the XP gains from Fishing. And have you even bothered to try fishing in Aquor for example? You do realize I've set up fishing spots all over Sundren...Originally posted by --chupacabra-- View PostOne small request on the topic of fishing:

First of all, thanks Saulus for putting in fishing spots all over SundrenOriginally posted by Saulus Mursadus View Post... have you even bothered to try fishing in Aquor for example? You do realize I've set up fishing spots all over Sundren...
It seems like some of the waypoints aren't working properly.
I spent a few hours on testing in various areas in Aquor and elsewhere. Tested around all water areas. I could not find a single spot. That is: I would go a few feet, try the rod, go a few more feet to find a spot, ad nauseum. In Aquor alone I went all over the map looking for spots to fish in and found none.
I would hope it isn't a fault in the actual hak (or some problem on my side), cause the fishing hak is great fun when it's working. Anyway, I feel like I spent a good deal of time trying to help make it better in the long run; I hope to have gotten proper results, otherwise I would not have posted.
