  • Fishing places for low levels

I would like to suggest more fish able places for low levels, perhaps a small pond at the crossroads, make the pond in the military ward fish able or even allow fishing near that guy that sells supplies at the port. I asked around and it seems without someone to follow the only places to fish are level 5 plus.

Any consideration of the request when resources are available I think will add added RP and value to characters pastime.

    Thanks,
    Flexigraf

PS. The lucky fishing hat adds 5 survival, does that mean fishing is based off of survival or off of Profession Fisher? .. or a combo? .. Thanks

All of the fishing things currently in are of an old addition to Sundren. Fishing will be changed slightly in the near future, and those items likely will too.

But.. fishing in the park? That's not going to be allowed

The port is a good suggestion though.

You can fish at Mirakus Post. Don't remember if I caught anything there, but you can fish.

Miraku's Post also requires level 6+ to enter without help, which was the OP's concern.

But yes, Miraku's Post is definitely a safe spot for low level fishers.

You can fish at the Port. You just have to find the right place. I have done it many times.

Found the place at the docks after some more looking, but for some reason it doesn't give the mini text indicators that it does elsewhere like the viridale. Ex. "Your line tugs powerfully" x second go by then "The line goes slack" xx seconds pass followed by You failed to catch a fish, etc.

All that happens is "XX uses the items special power" 2mins or so pass and then it says You failed, you succeeded, etc.. But if this is all being changed soon, no real need to worry.

Any hints about how fishing will work with the new system? Will it have a secondary stat like how mining has Knowledge Dungeoneering?

Don't have details on fishing yet, those still need to be worked out. Strength or Dexterity might play a part in it.

You also need to be a little handy. Or strong if you're catching sharks

Guess that means wizzards/rogues are the way to go if you want to have combat/roleplay skills. And If I'm gonna be catching sharks, I'm gonna wear my fullplate while I Fish!

Good idea. The shark's never going to pull you into the water if you're wearing a tin can. Unless it's a great white, but the waters near Sundren aren't deep enough for those.

As for the idea to weigh in other attributes than the base one deciding your skill level, it's meant to make the physically capable better at physical tasks. i.e. a ranger is going to be a better fisherman than a cleric will be, and a fighter a better miner than a wizard.

For fatigue penalties, that also applies with crafting skills like smithing. Strong and tough? You won't grow as tired as a pansy wizard will.

Just checking Back in now that some of the crafting/mining system has been implemented if you have any better idea of what I should be investing in to be a good fisherman. Is survival still going to play a role in fishing? Obviously the fishing fatigue system might be different than mining, eg. It takes wisdom or something to make you more patient to put in the time fishing often requires, so it may be more taxing mentally than physically?

Just Guessing, any update now that its been a month and you've implemented some of the new stuff, was wondering how I need to develop my character for being a fisherman.

Thanks Much and great work on the stuff that is in!

Edit: Oh, and is it going to be more interactive than the current system, or will it still be a cast and then wait 2 minutes? Either way works fine for me, just curious.

Can we get spear fishing too?

Fishing is going to be done in a similar way to mining, with a UI that gives you limited control over the events.

The fishing skill itself is obviously going to be the determining factor. Second most important factor will be the player's reaction speed. In some cases, strength and swim will play a role as well. Of course cooking is going to be good to have so you can prepare your own catch for dinner. Fishing will not give fatigue bar perhaps in some exceptional cases, so constitution won't play much of a role, if any.
