Yes, you guessed it, I'm referring to "those levels". My suggestion is a simple one, there is very little on the server to entertain those mid-levels amongst us between Cartel and Veritas/Slitherscale, and I was wondering if there are any intentions to improve on this. Once you hit level 10, regardless of party exp, killing Cartel all day won't get you anywhere, and the alternatives are... somewhat scary. The Slitherscale are widely viewed as the toughest enemies on the server, and oddly inconsistent. my 8th level rogue spent a few hours in there the other day with two level 9s and they were doing pretty well. Then suddenly we were totally pwnz0red and our rug was swiftly pulled out from under us as we were pwnz0red repeatedly thereafter. Then there's the Veritas. 'Nuff said. That pretty much means that anyone of mid levels is restricted to either fruitlessly pounding away at Cartel, or braving the necropolis (another of those places where death can unexpectedly stab you in the head then piss on your grave)

My suggestion is that rather than focusing on more nasties to make the high levels higher, are we intending to add any mid-level nasties for us?

*stands behind Uri, waiting for him to get 'downed' by the lighting strike* Come on fella, walk it off! You've nearly convinced them...

Seriously though I think there may be merit in what he is saying: Im just glad all my characters are lowbies who like to talk more than they like to do! Still in the Stonegarb comfort zone

I do have ideas for an area that could fill that gap, so to speak. But I've just played around with it in my mind and not really put any of it on digital paper. I'll post a suggestion on the dev forums in a while.

*laughs* I thought you were asking ME to do something.

*IF* I built anything would be tempted to do a desert town maybe and endless waste that if you enter getting out would be a challange as each transition randomly goes to random waypoint.

Another Idea is a realm of nightmares were you have to fight terrors of the night. I finished someone's area in nwn1 that was written to be like a horror story...lot of fun and pretty disturbing.

Sure thats a great idea, now just start making professional level areas for these new midlevel ranges and we can add them in, how does next week sound?

I did not say "now" nor "soon" in my original post

I agree with this problem, Veritas is slightly too strong for mid-level characters, while Cartel hardly offer any resistance and killing them turns into mindless grinding activity.

What could be challenging is add a bit different kind of areas, the two instances that could be suitable from level 10 all the way to near-epic would be Underdark and possibly fiendish planes (no, not speaking of Blood War ).
Those things have naturally well-scaled creatures to use and IMO could be included into certain module areas, such as access to UD from Cartel cave/elemental cave/the beholder place etc.
That'd put some value in people getting actual special material weapons and other stuff too.

This is just suggestion unfortunately, but I dunno if it would inspire someone.

Glagnur Frostfury - The arctic dwarf barbarian
Calewyn Gil'Fang - Wood elven archer
Jaegor Ursablad - The wychlaran knight from Rashemen

ooooh underdark nothing like slaying drow.

I think saulus was saying something like "it takes time to build such things, and staff has their hand ful".

Perhaps players could build a few areas and submit them? Another contest?

In nwn1 when I wanted a mage tower with gollem creation. Only way I got it was build it myself.

basically I am suggesting that players build some areas and see if saulus likes them.

Saulus... like...? What is this concept? Surely you mean "Saulus will regard with less contempt than most"

We have a jobs page, if someone wants to make maps for Sundren then they become a mapper, to become a mapper you have to apply... to apply you have to present previous work and impress Xeraph and Maevan and me with it.

Doesnt sound too tough... *dies of longing*

How about we all have a nice think along with Kaeldorn and pool our thoughts onto her desk so said person can do all the work
Im sure we can come up with something Sundren specific for mid level players to handle!

That's not the problem, the problem is having someone who can make maps for Sundren, adding player made maps creates more work, not less because of the amount of things we then have to fix in it. If we find there is a gap somewhere in content we will address it in time.
