I bet this is already posted somewhere, and yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a NWN2 Bug (Won't Fix) sort of deal, but here it goes anyways...

A Wizard who multiclasses into Arcane Scholar or something like that cannot take the appropriate feat "Bonus Spell Slot". He might be able to cast level 8 spells, but he can only take that feat for bonus 3rd level spells due to that being the point where he took the PRC.

For some reason, although it is an arcane class and an extension to the Wizard base class, they don't stack for the purposes of Bonus Spell Slots as per the feat, despite being able to cast any level of spells.

This doesn't really effect me, but I'm sure it might piss off any arcane casters, or multi-classed divine casters, that want those bonus spell slots. Can it be done with minimal work? Or is it too much just to fix Obsidian's own screw ups?

Its all about the level of the class not the level of spellcasting.

If you look at the Spellcasting PrC's it says that they don't get stuff like item creation bonus feats, turn undead, etc, these are lumped in there.

Look at it as a reward for being a pure sorcerer instead of a paladin/sorcerer/eldritch knight monster.

Yeah some feats can only be taken if the CURRENT level you are receiving is the class that gets the feat. Bards cannot take Battle Caster down the road if they take a PRC, for example. They must take it early on while leveling in Bard.

on the note of bards and spells, my bard can only seem to cast spell levels equal to his charisma MODIFIER as opposed to Cha - 10... is that normal?

Phantom Lambs is a bug that should be fixed. Kangletons is not a bug.

lol, Sean, I'm not talking about my Paladin/Sorcerer/Eldritch Knight monster. I just thought it was wierd that a Wizard/Arcane Scholar can't get bonus spell slots for 6th level spells, even though that PRC is just an extension of the Wizard itself. It isn't as though being an Arcane Scholar makes you no longer a Wizard, nor does being a Red Wizard.

But if it is intended to be that way, that it's a moot point.

Think of it as your studies are pushing you in different directions.. opening new doors.. but closing others..

Anyways.. the feats are as intended, I checked, though the Battle Caster is just plain setup stupid.

I tune out everything Phantom Lamb says until it's something about a certain other something, which I patiently wait for.

In the case of Arcane scholar, I would think it's just a question of what do you want more? Being able to spend a feat to get a bonus spell slot or being able to have the free and improved versions of some very nice metamagic feats. It's a question of which you want more, or which your character would be more likely to have. Like most things in life, it's a trade off.

Im struggling with this very choice right now. I would like to take the time to say "I HATE FIREBALL..."

With that said, there are just so many better choices. From an RP standpoint, WHY would every wizard in the world learn fireball. Surely there are some that are afraid of fire? Maybe someone didnt learn burning hands and now can't? Why?

Back on topic: I was thinking about taking some levels in Arcane Scholar, and I would do that early on. Even if you get only 4 level 9 spells a day, the extra spell slot at level 3 is not worth it to me, or even 5. I would rather be able to cast a quickend, maximized, Finger of Death, or Meteor Swarm (tho I fail to see how its a "swarm"). What about being able to cast 5 M. Disjunctions? It wont matter to me that I can't take that feat anymore. I don't need that extra 3rd level spell slot.

You will ALWAYS need more spell slots. High level wizards use protective spells from 2 and 3 all the time.

That being said, my personal opinion is that it's a waste of a feat.
