          Hopefully this isn't too off-topic.

I am also not a fan of the fire ball. I would much rather use ice or lightning, or magic (i.e. magic missile). Games always seem to short sheet the ice and lightning spells, compared to fire. I want some devastating ice spells (or magic spells).

It is off topic, but I do believe theres quite a few ice spells now. Aura of Colds and the damage over round ones and polar ray coming to mind, cold's BAD ASS. Lightning.. it hasn't got the love of cold and fire... yet.

That's probably the truest statement you have ever uttered

              I knew you were jealous.

More Illusion spells that are non-mind effecting. Otherwise stupid Protection from Alignment rears it's stupid head, and stupidly ruins my stupidity, should I ever use an illusion as Keth!

I put in the illusionary wall (illusion that isn't effected by pro alignment), and heard nothing back from the community about it, so I had to assume making more of these kind of illusion spells wasn't interesting to the community.

I had Illusionary Wall with Orrick, and while I liked it, for the spell level slot it took, coupled with 10 min rest timers and being between levels 6-10 where some important buffs can't last the whole 10 mins, and already trying to balance the buff/offensive spell ratio so that you can be more useful than a floating cross bow with 50hp. It didn't seem to be worth the slot in it's general usefulness. If it were a lower level, had more situations where it seemed to warrant its self useful, or resting was different I probably would have used it more.

I really did like the spell, and would like others like it, but the harsh 'reality' of needing certain spells in combat or the ever present 'there may be combat fairly soon at any time and I may not be able to hit a rest area to switch this out', scenarios, I ended up only toying with it in definite non combat situations.

Qybox used it to pretend Karthus didn't exist. I loved it. Too bad I willed his wall into non-existance.

I really love spells like that, but can understand the perspective that Jaeram gives, in regards to being a pure caster who needs his more combat oriented spells. It's still a wicked fun spell and useful for RP and for controlling the battlefield with some strategy, but you do need to be in the right situation.

I'd personally love more stuff like that, despite it being of limited use to me, personally. Stuff like that just seems cool to me.

Oh yeah, Orrick was an Illusionist, and I had a lot of fun RP'ing him as such, but being a pure wizard, it's hard, he had like 21 int at level 7 unbuffed too, not to mention being a specialist, he had quite a few spells slots, but as soon as you get into combat, if you want to feel useful you end up going through them like water. Then your stuck sitting there going *thunk* *thunk* I've got a +5 AB let's see how many shots it takes to finally land one on this ogre lol. I would have loved to have more of them though, even if they didn't have much use.

I think the only level I 'allowed' him to put 'fun' spells into were the cantrips. I had a few there for effect and fun, although I still had a few rays of frost, as useless as it becomes...

Yu gys know that you can actually temp trap another PC in a building with that spell, right? (until a server reset or someone frees them.) PC's only get one shot at disbelieving that wall. Cover up the door to a room.. and if they fail the will save.. there done.

Now tell me.. how can you place the value of that below a offensive spell?

Just because you don't get many opportunities to do that. If you're out fighting in Veridale, you can't really make use of it in such settings. However, I never questioned the value of the spell. I love it, and would definetly use it if I even had a character that could.

hrm...how Larando longs for a spell like...

If I could find it, or find a mage willing to do buisiness with me to get it scribed, I know I'd find use in it. It's sounds awesome. caveman_282 was describing it to me. Larando would definately make more use of spells like that.

I RP him like an arcane granduer type caster (ie, dim door into groups of people or using darkness to uninvis myself and emerging from it). He's a pure caster, but I can assure you that he has a particular spell list that he keeps at the ready for a quick escape either from PCs or NPCs (not that he's made any leathal enemies yet...but it's good practice for later).
