  • Extra wildshape forms

As inconspicuous as poor Serena has tried to be lately, it is obvious that a cross class hide skill doesn't work worth a damn for that. Being a druid, there are dozens of spells that help them blend in to an environment, yet its real unlikely they can ever be implemented in NWN2.

So with the options limited, wild shape is the closest to inconspicuous a druid can get in game. But the forms are not inconspicuous at all. That leads to the point here, make some new forms for wildshape. Those forms should be a cat, a dog, a rabbit, maybe some other small animals that are inconspicuous and already have models in game.

I don't think they need to have a lot of thought put into them, just having the ability to turn the character model into a common critter and back again should be enough.

Seriously, that'd be cool. I hated being limited on Vashan with only a few forms to choose from.

Sounds like a good idea to me, it could be fun to watch druids hoppin' about as wabbits

I, actually, think it would be better to implement the PNP version of "Master of Many Forms" PRC, then to give druids unlimited morph power. Maybe give druids the "1000 faces" feat, that would be neat.

Purely hypothetical, If someone was to try to make the 1000 faces feat, and told you, he or she could ONLY do 5 of the races which would make sense in your opinion?

        Here's mine and my issue:
        1.Human
        2.Dwarf
        3.Elf
        4.Half Orc
        5.Gnome or Halfling?

I always wanted my druid to be able to shift in to like 1000 different creatures. I know in BG2 I used to love playing druids for my main character and either using the shape shifter (the werewolf one which was cool) or the other one that could change in to all kinds of stuff, I think they were called...Avengers.

          Rhime - or is he?

Well in the spirit of making players happy, upon the next big update, I fixed something that Obsidian never finished. Druids will have their 5th shape that obisidan never finished.

            The Panther/Dire Panther is coming.

Rargh Dire Bunny. Haha, reminds me of an old DM.

                    But that would be epic.

Well as nice as a panther form would be (they still look hideously deformed), the real purpose of the suggestion was for more innocuous forms that could blend into a civilized environment far better than a wolf or panther or badger can.

As for thousand faces, I have no idea. But can't you just support more model types with a widget?

I want to be able to turn into a flower, while we're at it. Why can I become a massive tree monster, and not a flower?

Tree monsters can't sit by the campfire, but flowers can.

I don't think you guys realize what your suggesting.

Let me give you guys a sneak preview of what it took to implement the panther.

First you must create the Creatures in tthe toolset. with all stats, feats, sizing, etc. That in itself took around 30 minutes to do right. (Thats just two creatures).
Then I have to alter the wildshape script to allow for the panther so it doesn't turn you into a cow. (it would!). 10 minutes there.
Then I needed to go in and modify the spells.2da and add the row for panther. Theres about 30 fields in the row and they need to be exact. I also had to modify the master spell entry to read the new one. 10 minutes there.
Then I needed to go into the tlk and update the names/descriptions of the wildhsape feat so that it reads correctly. 10 minutes.
Then I needed to add the correct 2 entries to the polymorph.2da for which I needed to reference the portraits.2da, racialtype.2da, and the soundset.2da for data. I also had to correctly target the natural weapons and skin to apply to the wildshape. 20 minutes.

And then I had to test it.
                          10 minutes.

Total time to add in the panther and dire panther forms for wildshape (with the idea that half the work obsidian did for me and new forms wouldn't be that easy): 1.5 hours.

Can you imagine coding in a ton of animals, birds, cows, orcs, gargoyles, lizardmen, etc?

I like the suggestion, but now that you know how much time it takes to do this, can we temper the suggestion down to respect the time?

Now for Dark Presence. We could do something like that but theres a couple points I want to make you aware of first:
1.) On Sundren, we look for hi tech quality, to set us above any other server. Thats why you don't an inventory full of widgets and data storage devices.
2.) We could implement more models, but we only have two ways of doing it. The first is polymorph, which involves doing what I did for the panthers. The second is manually changing the appearance of the PC. This seems like a good idea, but heres a fun little problem. If you logged out while in a different appearance, the game will then store that as your default appearance. You might never look like yourself again. There is a workaround for this, but it involves modifying the on_enter script, the on_rest script, rewriting the PC information database, altering all the storage scripts to account for that field, and to make matters worse, unlike polymorph, the appearance change isn;t a spell type so a dispel magic, anti magic, resting, etc wouldn't effect it. Neither would there be a reliably working duration on it.

So, yes, it can be done, but is it worth the investment?

Needless to say I would love to have the time to do this, but I do have a real life.

Before people even think about extra wild shapes perhaps they should consider actually playing a druid who acts for nature beyond the care of a potted plant. To many druids in sundren are only druids because they like the abilities of the class. few are actually spreading words of warning or caution or aiding travelers along the forest road and teaching proper care to maintain the balance etc. Nature gifts are a blessing given to those truly in touch with it just as a cleric is with his/her diety. So people get your druids out there and get back to learning what nature is about. Then maybe you will be blessed as a dire bunny
