I never expect bards to do much in the way of killing, for example, but they can sure make a party alot stronger with their music.

Bards can do tons in the way of killing, if they put their mind to it. I mean, I think we're all agreed here that Val kicks ass
Plus he gives everyone flame + bless weapon which is an automatic 2d6 + 1d8 damage against undead

And weapon masters crit > 100 dmg, Mages toss out AOE death, etc etc. Yeah, I can see where you might think you're doing the damage

Obscure I-Don't-Care Fact

In the french version of Baldur's Gate 1, some innkeepers had a voiceset which translates precisely to:

"My inn is just as clean as an elf's ass!"

(Aren't we talking about proper elves?)

That was the best french-traduced game I played in my whole life. Imoen's voice was unbelievably fitting considering how she's supposed to an annoying *meep*

They're in there. And they also cast dispel too, the AI isn't all that great so vampiric touch tends to be the major casting. Might end up redoing some of this..

I've seen the vampiric touch and plenty of dispels, but no death magic since the previous incarnation of the server...

Anway, back on topic! All the people who've posted about groups are dead right. There are plenty of ways to be useful other than actually killing stuff, and providing some background RP while fights are underway is most certainly the best!
