The only advantage wizards get in arcane spellcasting against sorcerers is variety, because we get a poor number of actual castings per rest period compared to them (and don't get me started on warlocks). Thus a decision to make scrolls difficult to obtain affect wizards far more than the other classes who get their complete spell list handed down to them by Morgan Freeman, or the Energizer-casters that go for hours in exchange of not learning from scrolls.Only wizards can "abuse"(Harsh word really, but i honestly think it would be stopped if it took a ful day to scribe a scroll) this because they can scribe it into their own spellbook.
I just feel like I have to defend against this "abusing wizards" thing, because trust me, we got it hard on Sundren. If I wanted to do a one-man war machine I'd roll barbarian (ask my friend Frangelico the gnome Hero who crits for 40+ at level 6 with 110 HP) or I would apply to play a warlock. >_>Drado Nackle, gnome scholar of the Weave

Well yeah, re-reading myself this morn, I think I got carried away, and I apologize. It's probably not easy either having half the server hunting you actively and wanting you dead. >_>Drado Nackle, gnome scholar of the Weave
