I don't agree with this statement, however.

I understand it's a big deal, the holy sword spell itself, but trying to persecute someone on the grounds of arming people against evil creatures is a bit ridiculous. Considering that's what the spell does, it protects people against evil creatures. That'd be like persecuting the same wizard for making death-ward wands. A spell that's usually only for clerics, to protect against death spells and effects.

I -don't- like that it's exploitable. I knew the duration thing was something that couldn't be helped (I think? Heard it was a deeply ingrained code error) but I didn't have a clue it could do all sorts of elemental damage.
I can't tell you enough how happy I am to escape.

Back on topic, I believe that Holy Sword is powerful enough to not be distributed to every person who has UMD. When neutral and evil fighters are running around dual wielding Holy Sword handaxes so they can grind Argyle and Mossdale, it seems a bit much and waters down the paladin characteristics.

        .
Well, I think we will have to agree to disagree. I see divine spells as divine. That means some wizard reproducing the gifts of the gods without the supervision or blessing of the church you are reproducing the blessings of, should draw attention. Does that mean it will happen? No, it is my opinion and it is fine if you disagree.

Pretty sure this solves the "Should wizards be casting divine spells into wands" debate.

Sounds good to me, if the paladin wants to bless a wand of holy sword to an ally, then it's on his shoulders.

Oh, just thought this. Michael helped Thresh get her start on Holy Sword wands from the wand given to him by a Drow Sunite Paladin. Would that mean the wrath of Lady Firehair would fall upon Michael and Thresh? Well,...I guess her mercy will depend on how well they treated Sunites, maybe.

No good god is going to be upset that more people are being equipped with the means to slay evil. However, Bane might be upset if his wizards are using Holy Sword scrolls to make and sell Holy Sword wands.

However, I thought we had adjusted wand crafting a while back such that you couldn't craft wands from other wands/scrolls because of this very concern: we didn't want wizards (or clerics, or anyone else) to be able to craft wands of spells they don't have spellbook access to. As pertains to Holy Sword, the only people we want crafting Holy Sword wands are paladins.

As of now Lotus, you can still craft wands and scrolls off of other wands and scrolls, even if the spell is not on your class list. Would make sense for a mystic theurge crafter but otherwise I'm scratching my head a little.

The probably would if it's a Lawful god whose blessing are being used to further Chaotic ends, or t'other way round. Or if the weapons are being used by the followers of gods they don't like, or if the god creating the weapon is particularly isolationist in terms of who gets to siphon parts of their power off for use.

Then there's the followers to think about, followers can be really touchy about stuff like the higher levels of their deities power being sold off by merchants unrelated to their church.

Of course, fixing the crafting flaw will pretty much solve the problem. Or allow angry mobs to target the correct individuals.
It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little - Do what you can.

So I guess my only question is, no more?

Because I'll gladly stop reproducing these things if the server's rules are a sound 'Hey, stop doing that'. Had no intent to be working around what the staff desires.
