  • Faction-aligned Zones

I want to start by saying I don't want anything like the old Kurz Cartel or even the Veritas Mountain. Those were, for the most part, leveling areas. But I'd like to see places like Sestra's River Path and Gate of the Sunderer turned into level 20 (+) faction contest zones, with npcs and perhaps a flag or guardhouse that is worth nominal amounts of rep, gold, and a small chunk of unmodified xp. Perhaps on it's own timer, but something that is both in character with each faction/subfaction, and an incentive to breed conflict. Likewise, I'd like to see Sundren faction npcs separated from Sundren commoners/merchants so Black Hand and other nefarious types can be set faction hostile for such locations.

Another idea I'd like to propose is putting retired faction pcs in these areas as red-teir npcs.
    Active
Reinamar Stormseeker - The bladestorm that must turn back the wind. Arkerym of The People, practitioner of the forgotten art, pariah.

Tyler Penleigh - Obligatory author insert, Red Blade Defender, sarcastic jerk, caring brother, loving fiancé, war criminal.

    Retired/Dead
Eirimil Gaelazair (Dead)- Bitter. Caustic. Abrasive. Egocentric. Probably right. Found dead in the burned-out Viridale forest a few weeks after the survivors were able to sweep the area after the Bloodmaim offensive. Aside from his usual attire, an intricate music box was the only thing in his possession.

I have played on servers with " keeps" before. Basically you take your party in the keep and "capture" the flag. The NPC of the keep were challenging enough that it was difficult to one man it, but that was NWN1

Area's made specifically for this sort of PVP/ PVE should be 100 percent avoidable. To many low level characters are forced to use those area's and will more then likely get slaughtered from spawns that either get loose or kill the spawner. Because if you want to challenge a level 20 plus you need to bring the heat.

I am not saying the idea is not a good one. It is. It just needs to go somewhere out of the way I think. Maybe inside of a building so spawns are contained if things go south.

I think this idea will work nicely when we're offically at war and not playing pity politics. As for the lowbie issue, I think if you're not part of a faction you'll be safe. Otherwise, depending on which side you're on, somebody's gonna smoosh you.

this could be so cool. It might be a bit off putting to new and low levels, but the immersion running out of your faction hq for the first time to see a conflict with both pcs and npcs involved would be awesome

but perhaps aoe spells would be a bitch. Could it be made so death from certain npc worked as pvp deaths?

It's a nice idea that we can think about one day. But if you guys want more plots and global movement, then we can't devote resources to this type of thing.

You say global movement and I instantly imagined the Black Hands throwing smoke bombs and other terrorists activities at the Second Wind promoting Tyranny while the Hands of Mundus are in the hoodies walking around with signs saying. "Protect magic and take off the Helm!"

No way. the black hand would never resort to such chaotic methods like smoke bombs and terrorism. We're a lawful orginization, we believe in the true order of the world, all things in their place, and all people serving Bane.

Which is ironic given some of the BURN THE WORLD RULE THE ASHES tendencies displayed by Banites in the past. Bunch of secret Cyricists.

Undead armies are more loyal? I'm not sure where you are getting this but all factions have their internal issues, especially ones with lots of players all who want to go in different directions instead of collaborating and coming to an agreed direction.

By putting well over 100 hours into a Black Hand character!

It was mostly a joke, but one rooted in actual experience with actual player Banites.

I think he meant that some Banites forget the lawful part and focused on the evil. kind of like cyricists are (lore-wise) known to do.
