      Pretty much this. If we were going for 'historical accuracy in everything', rapiers, scimitars, and katanas would be shit-useless against anyone wearing a full-plate harness, since the first weapon was developed for fighting unarmored individuals, and attempting to cut through a moving target covered in plates meant to deflect strikes would not do anything. Same thing would go for most other sword types, unless they were used in a non-slashing method. Falchions were single-handed machete-like swords, unlike the two-handed kreigsmesser or dadao they appear as in the D&D world.

      Warhammers would look more like this slim sexy thing than like this blocky clump of clumsy metal. Not to mention that non-ceremonial armor would be more effective the less spikes and decorations it had on it as those would snag on attacking strikes rather than serving to deflect blows. Boob-plate, of course, will not be mentioned. And why doesn't a mage's lightning bolt automatically paralyze someone considering they're pretty much getting hit with a hundred tazers?

      As a bit of a western martials arts buff, I've come to terms that it's a simulation, using a set system of rules, and as much as roleplaying goes into it all to make it immersive, it is not going to be 'realistic'. I would personally be very interested if a spear-and-shield warrior could make a presence on the server. However, there currently is a means and method to achieve this (spear weapon master with monkeygrip) and so it is not a priority.

        I'd actually like to ask the same thing. How does reach work IG? You attack a 5feet square away, and get lots of AoO?

        I'm looking forward to seeing how that will work with Longstrider, HiPS and FE. Those vamps won't be able to do a touch attack before I'm away again maybe?
