Just me, but I think that player & DM granted rep should outweigh what you can grind for by getting banners.

This is an RP server, and reputation in many ways an RP reward, at least when it comes to your PC's fame and standing in organizations, so it stands to reason that when you impress your peers and they grant you reputation, it should be more valuable than grinding your way through a dungeon.

Also, do you have to be a member of a faction to get rep from them? It might be cool if you could get rep from any faction, even if you don't belong to them. Even cooler would be if you get to a certain level, you can actually use the faction store and have their items, even though you're not a member. You'd be like a guest of honor or an "ally." Now granted, the number should be high, and gained ONLY through player and DM reputation gains, not banners.

A case in point: My PC has very strict roleplay restrictions based on source for her cleric order. I rely 100% on RP relationships not only for donations, but also for protection as my PC is utterly weak and cannot fight. The number of friends I can make spread across every faction will literally define wether my PC succeeds or fails in her character goals. Being able to gain faction and get donations from various factions will help her achieve her goals and keep up with relivant gear via RP alone.

To pick up flags and turn them in, yes you have to be a part of a faction. But people can vouch for other people not in their faction, and dm's can also grant any faction rep to people.

I agree this is an RP server and rep and such should be granted if you RP your character.

How can we provide a limited amount of rep to those that are in different time zones, do not want to do the guardhouse and flag drag, or RP their character all the time but no DM is there to see and reward?

        1. Let people vouch for characters that stay are IC and push forward their factions. Not sure if there could be a sticky or maybe a click on the forum? Can this be abused, yes, but if its on the forum it can be tracked and if somebody is coming in and clicking their best friend everyday, you would know it.

        2. Have more events on the Weekend that can include all timezones.

        3. Have a donation box for xp vs. rep, but make it like 1,000xp for 10 or no more than 30 rep pts. And make it so that you cannot do it more than once a day.

        Just some thoughts.

One of the reasons I haven't got an Alt yet is because I like to have Byrun available to vouch for rep. If your Blackwood, feel free to send me a tell and if Byrun isn't busy arguing with Julia, toturing Helmite orphans, or corrupting paladins, I'd be more than happy for some RP and granting Rep.

Flipped the order for maximum trope effect.

I was not aware of this. Not sure if it's a rule or guideline. Regardless, knowing what I know about each thing listed, I stand beside my original order. :-)

On topic. I don't like the idea of a Rep bank, but I wouldn't mind the ability to grant Rep a few more times a day, if there was a way to set it up so that it couldn't be used on the same person over and over again.

I'm inclined to agree here: the rep system works pretty well as is, but it always seems aquard 'playing favorites', in that you can only vouch one person for then given time period, so if two or more people do a task and report it in, your left trying to juggle who deserves your single Vouch most, when realistically they would all be given credit.

Since I think most factions have been standardized to 5 tiers of rep, perhaps one vouched individual per rank per day or some calculation therefrom (starting from 3000 rep, which I think is the minimum required to vouch)? So the more standing you have with the organization, the more underlings you can effectively maintain at once.

I'll totally be behind more dapsticks to hit more people per day. No more than one dapstick per person, but as Kit said, it makes no sense for a faction boss to have to pick one person of a group where all the participants should realistically take credit for their tasks. Or maybe not even a group assignment; if a lucky guy gets the vouch earlier, you're boned until the next day.

"Uh, boss, I totally did this awesome task, but why can't you vouch for me?"

"Well, bro, I gave away my vouch to another bro of yours who impressed me earlier. And so out of whatever reason, I can't send more commendations until midnight has passed."

                  "...What?"
