  • I would gladly trade you...

I would like to suggest the staff consider characters trading XP for Reputation Points.

I would like to purpose a 10:1 ratio

So, if I give you give 10,000 experience points... please provide me with 1,000 reputation points.

Limit the trade to no more than 60,000 experience points for 6,000 reputation points.

    Just a suggestion.

    Cheers!

But that doesn't make a whole lot of IC sense. Why would you lose abilities and skills, and gain standing in an organization?

To be true the inverse would also have to apply - Someone with extraordinary abilities and skills would naturally have standing in the organization, thus making IC sense.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. This is merely a suggestion to help those high level - low reputation characters adjust themselves to gain middle ranks in a faction.

Suggestions are always welcomed, but they need to be grounded in IC reality (whatever that means).

I think this comes from people either leveling too quickly then joining a Faction or older players returning to the new system.

In the first case, if you balance it, this shouldn't be too much of an issue. Also, if you check in with others of your faction regularly (if possible) they should be granting reputation as well.

That's also not true. Just because you're a master swordsman, doesn't mean you're somehow granted more responsibility in a faction. It makes it easier for said swordsman to gain reputation by doing great things for his faction, but it's no guarantee.

Okay... I am not going to drag this thread out by arguing each point - counter point. csmosier hit the nail on the head... If you are already a 20th level player who now has access to an newly updated store, it applies.

This is merely a suggestion. Not a suggestion based on fantasy land... oh wait. This is a fantasy game.

              Cheers.

For an example of what Grinning Death is talking about, look at Major Armstrong of Fullmetal Alchemist. Tough as nails, can stand up to superhumans and give them a beating where most of his friends would collapse from, but he's stuck as Major despite most of his comrades having higher rank because he's not as willing to commit atrocious deeds in the name of his military/faction.

its kinda of the same as ditto said. you might as well be donating gold. that said I would not be opposed to having some of the gear in the faction stores level based as opposed to rep based (with in reason). top ranked items should be for top ranked members.

It's already easy enough to get rep, I don't see why this would be needed.

I feel dirty for agreeing with OnyxTigress, but she's quite correct. Reputation in factions is mad easy to pick up these days.

I agree with OnyxTigress and I don't feel dirty about it at all! =P

I think the general goal behind removing the original donation boxes was to reward those who take an active role in a faction rather than those who gain reputation through mechanical means. Allowing people to trade XP for rep would undermine that.

If I may tweak the suggestion, I think it would be better to propose that XP is a factor in determining total reputation points. A trade seems weird to me, but I do agree with your argument that proving your prowess in levels would naturally contribute to getting you higher reputation within an organization.

This is already the case. Higher level areas yield banners that give more reputation upon turn-in.

You start out collecting banners that give like 20-odd points in Viridale, and work your way up to Whurest and Mossdale handing out 80 a pop.

I know, I set the values for those flags myself!

I see your point. I was suggesting a more direct contribution. I'm not saying it will or should happen, but I think it's definitely a more realistic approach than a trade.
