  • Thayan Gnolls

Every time I see the gnolls standing guard outside of the Thayan Enclave I think about how awesome it would be to play as one.

    So, how about it?

Playing monster races would be sick.

I am all for monster races being available. Would create interesting rp.

Why stop at just Gnolls? Though Thay does need more minions.

We need a few more races running about. It would make for some very interesting RP.

Gnolls and lizardmen seem the most populous races. Goblins too I guess...they would make for great RP!

I'd play a goblin paladin of Sune any day.

Yes, I realise my RP writing sucks. Just be thankful I keep it short

Lets not forget about kobolds, Yuan-ti, and various monsters like spiders, bears, elementals, wolves and such.

I am full heartedly for this! I would suggest Warforged, as well. It'd be cool to run around as a human sized sentient golem. It would also give us plenty of chance to build out automated forces for certain factions who want them.
We can axe if we want to, leave that sword behind. Because your friends don't axe, and if they don't axe then they're no friends of mine.

I don't think warforged would be a good idea. I don't think FR supports them.

This just reminded me why playing monster races can be a bad idea sometimes.

Monster Races, if they were to be introduced, would be subject to certain restrictions accorded to their place in the world - Thayan Gnolls, as per the suggestion, would have to be total servants of Thay, be limited to non-good alignments and probably limited in terms of class (no casters). In return they wouldn't be KOS in most places (though some would be utterly off limits) unlike a normal gnoll.

All that for exactly the same reasons that other races/classes have such restrictions - Special Butterfly Syndrome.

As for other races - I can think of one or two that could be added without things getting silly and KOSy (or requiring huge amounts of mapping/lore drafting in order to add). In terms of development time Thayan Gnolls would require the least

Many other servers offer multiple races. Normally I'm against monstrous races, and it should be understood that there are some character concepts that will always, or more than likely, attack on sight outside "protected" areas. Saying certain races are "off limits" wouldn't be very fair. It goes both ways. That being said, I support the idea, and I think it could offer a draw to attract more new players.

I can't tell you all how much I would love playing a kobold. Have done it in a few PnP campaigns and it is always a blast. Deekin for life!

Seeing as there is a whole island of lizard folk and a tribe of them that has had history with Sundren though sestra, they make the most scene to at to me. I like the idea of adding knolls I really do love knolls but dont like the idea of having them locked up souly in the thayan faction. There is just not a Red wizard population big enough to support them being thayan only in my opinion. Look at all the thayan knights walking around...

I agree, we need more knolls in Sundren. The landscape is far too flat for my liking :P
