as stated previously, I don't have a clue what GBX is doing with the crafting system, or what he intends, and I am well aware that the Staff are trying to avoid the whole uses/day stuff, but I think there is certainly use in the mechanic. Obviously it would be much easier by far to request a DM-event, but crafting use/day spells into items would be wondrous, presuming they didn't get abused and hoarded into powerbuilt characters as is almost inevitable. A wizard trying to supplement his daily spells is one thing; a rogue or fighter capable of outcasting everything on the server given enough gold is another.

Crafting changes are a dead-horse topic, but feel free to ask me about crafting: If I can't answer it, I bet I can direct you to someone who can.

Agreed. Casters that rely on self-buffing are still on easy-street, its those who use offensive spells that suck (and yes, I am talking about soloing or small party..but for a lot of us that's the only possibility). I'm sure those casters who regularly party with 3-5 other players are fine just how it is.

Reserve feats or rods/staffs would be cool. If its rods/staffs though then I guess anyone with UMD could use it too, so you'd have fighters/rogues running around with it too.

Clerics should have a mandatory higher (12 at least) char... you can't really inspire people if you talk like a hick and smell like a worm (unless you're a redneck Talonite I suppose....)

Becky Dragonhin - Sword of the Loyal Fury, Knight of the Triad... the only Good hin in Sundren???

Perry Turnipfodder - aspiring talent, happy chronicler.

Clerics are an avatar of their god. Accordingly, they should be some of the most feared / respected persons in Sundren. I would rather the staff increase the requirements to play one [e.g. a minimum CHA as suggested and/or any other requirements deemed fitting] thereby making it very difficult to receive all of that power... as opposed to penalizing them for being what they are suppose to be, a walking minature of their diety.

Joe Player: Damn, you play a Cleric?

Jane Player: Yeah... it was hard as hell to get one, yada yada.

          Joe Player: Much respect.

          Cheers!

Now this just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Minimum Cha 13 if you want to give them a minor nerf, or minimum Cha 15 if you want to be an evil sadistic cleric-hating monster (heck, I know I do!)

I'm more down with scaling up spell durations over scaling up rest areas.
But please, keep one thing in mind for me. What have you become when even nightmares fear you?
