One of the reasons the stricter PNP model resting was implemented was to restore the balance between melee and casters at higher levels. I think an unintended consequence is, it's become very painful for casters between level 6 and say... 14ish? Those mid levels wind up being very slow and boring, where you're reduced to using a crossbow for 95% of your action. Honestly - did you roll a wizard so you could use a crossbow?
If the rest period scaled with your level, it would help this out I think. Higher levels, you have extend, persistent, longer duration on spells, more variety, etc. Early on, I think quicker resting would help.
