The privateers might need to be toned down a bit for white; tried 2 times to get over the bridge with a rogue (got a few shots off at range before they closed -- the damsel in distress beat his ass the first time doing more damage with her fists than he did with a weapon - the second time for some reason the orc just stood there getting shot, but his buddy with a bow took me down).

Where are these privateers encountered, and at what level ranges (someone else added these encounters, and I've yet to see them IG).

They're all over Pioneer's Way, but in this case, it's the Bridge that leads to the Gate of the Sunderer. Right as you cross the bridge in the pass, there's usually about 3-4 that spawn. I know sometimes I've left from the Gate to the bridge and there's 3 standing by the transition waypoint after someone ran.

I concur. I'm level 16 and when I saw the privateers thought ok lets go clear out these bandit scum without buffing first (AC 24). The Orc guy ran at me with the big scythe and I took more than 60 dmg in the first round :O (I guess it was from the Orc, but could also have been the archer behind him)

Lowbies just coming from the gate with like AC 18 and 30hp wouldn't stand a chance.

Somehow the orc guy got a hold of a +8 set of armor with +6 CON (more than likely a mistaken equip), I mugged him and took it.

That's why my 20th level mage tip toed thru there invisible. I didn't want to incur any DM wrath for unleashing a lot of spells on what is supposedly low level npc's.

Was just wondering is it possible to increase the CR of Dark Wraiths by any chance?

Right now I get 0xp from them. The Myrkul Skeletons in Necroplis and the weak little mutants in the Mirakus mines give me 3xp+gold and the Wraiths are way tougher than them. Also, the Wraiths never drop more than a spoon, stein or chain gloves (leftovers of their last adventurer meal??).

I know this has probably been done intentionally to prevent Clerics from Turn Undead-ing their way to 20th level, but if their Turn undead is that good to be able to destroy them en-masse then undead is probably all they *can* kill well ><

Privateers may be encountered on Pioneer's Way (Valley road, not sure about the Rural Farm), Crossroads, The Pit, and Port Avanthyr

I'll be honest, with the bandits on the roads gone and the goblins no longer dropping goblin meat or ears for early loot, the amount of gold that the low levels can get has dropped significantly. Goblin chief is still there on third floor of spittlefist caves, but drops no loot. I think the loot system did not actually get implemented in the last patch, or it did and some little piece of code got scrambled that keeps it from over-riding the current system, because I'm still getting carrots, lemons, and spoons from any mob's that actually bother to drop anything.

And yes, those privateers are at: Pioneers way, Rural Farm, Tyr's Fork, Crossroads (Near exigo trading post entrance and over by world map transition), the pit, no longer at port from what i've seen. Extremely strong for level 3 mobs, the orc muscle in particular is strong. He rages and still possesses above a 24 ac, which is very scary for level 3's. That monster privateer is also pretty tough, he can be a challenge for my level 15 rogue if he rolls good. He also has spell casting levels, as he cast's mage armor on himself at the start of a fight.

Hell, I have trouble with the privateers at lvl 6! but I suppose it's a good incentive for grouping up. Personally I'd like more fruit and veggies in my loot! Do you know you can make huuuge explosions with them?(well most of them anyways)

One note you might eant to add to the sticky here:
Many of the monster CRs were changed between sunderings. We wanted to cover the level spread better so some are more challenging than they used to be. However that should be reflected in new CRs and XP gains accordingly.

                                Mossclaw Meet

                                Party Composition (Number of people/Levels/Etc):
2 lvl 6 (mine was 1 lvl of a melee class and 5 lvls of an arcane class, veerin's was 1 or 2 lvls of a melee and 5 or 4 lvls of an arcane (I can't remember)) I was running Ghostly Visage and Bulls str, Veerin's char was using MA.

                                Feedback:
The general encounters, in front of and around the fort in the middle of the area, I thought were just fine. The fort however was overrun with two huge mobs of 10+ gnolls each of various colored names. The loot was the same as it used to be in this area.

The white named gnolls seemed slightly weeker than the old gnolls, the white named orcs and goblins seemed about the same as the old gnolls or maybe slightly weaker (hard to tell), overall the individual NPC's seem quite alright. Didn't get a chance to fight the boss gnoll because of the huge mobs surrounding it.
