I like that there are different backpacks, and think there should be more. Today I was wondering though, how hard would it be to make wearable Scabbards, or sword sheaths?

The scabbards have an issue with being made wearable in that they are armor hip pieces. I don't think they could be made into wearable items as they are currently designed. Also, since belts seem to only show up if specifically attached to an outfit, I don't think that would be a possible alternative.

Tamha speaks the truth, the existing scabbards are simply hip armour pieces and can only be added in the toolset when creating armour.

The only things that show up in-engine when equipped are hats/helms, gloves, boots, capes/packs and of course armour.

That said, it might be possible to work around that - An item that fits into the cloak slot but is placed at the hip should be possible, the hoods are weighted to multiple bones (I think) so why not a cloak.

It would be great to see more alternatives to long cloaks - A snazzy pelisse, fancy short cloaks, webbing and more belts/backpacks. Anything to stop me thinking of this every time I see an adventure running around with yards of fabric hanging off their necks. (To much hanging around with the fuzz - Don't wear anything around your neck you're not happy to be strangled with, don't wear a ring on any finger you mind loosing).

What kind of backpacks did you have in mind?

I'll try and have a fiddle later (Keep in mind my normal iDesque timekeeping).

I think its a great idea, and would be awesome if possible. A thing I thought would be cool is if you could somehow equip helmets etc in your hands so your character holds it under his arm. Or something like that.

Maybe have scabbards on a persons back instead of cloaks? Just a thought.

That would be cool. Have a giant claymore strapped up to go all Connor MacLeod on people!

Giant swords strapped to peoples backs? It'd give me something to laugh at I guess.

What I've started to do is put together an assortment of items such as pouches, potion bandoliers, pockets, water bottles, flasks and straps that I can use to greeble things up with. If I can get this belts-as-a-cloak thing working then I'll put them together in certain ways, if it doesn't then they'll have to go on as backpacks.

First, I need to overcome my fear of rigging.

                  It works!

                  Kind of.

As an experiment I changed a belt and a hip piece into a single cloak slotted item. Once equipped they turn up in-game in roughly the right place. Unfortunately they're affected by the cloak skeleton so they wave around all over the place when the character is in motion. Still, that might be fixable.

He uses a katana. It was the 80s after all.

And that's an image of Braveheart.

That's Connor MacLeod of the clan Macleod, rather famous for being the Highlander and decapitation specialist. While of scottish ancestry he uses a Katana for most of the film. It's the 80s.

He does admittedly use a claymore in the flashback parts of the films, but he's pretty crap with it and gets stabbinated by the Kurgan.
