Ain't scurred of xp loss. As hard as it is for a fighter to get 1,000 xp, it's even harder to get 1,500. Leave as is.

How about a tweak to the body guard action of the soldier.

The person being guarded by the soldier is unknown to other players, unless the diplomat successfully gathers the information.

If the person being guarded is target of an action that can incapacitate him, the soldier makes a spot check to intercept the agressor and if successful, immediately enters a duel with the aggressing henchman.

          What messages?

Diplomat: Persuade (+10 to diplomacy when making deals)

Messages between NPC nobles and PC nobles will have a chance of being intercepted by the Spymaster.

Deals, being well...deals. Knocking out your opponents henchmen isn't the only way to gather votes.

              My questions are:
              - who are the noble houses? Can we get a list of who made the cut for noble house?
              - If they are the chosen ones, the ones that usually get most of the DM events and most of the good items and such, like the "cool" roguethree gang, will the noble houses rotate or not?
              - If they don't rotate, then we have another inbalance in that the "cool" gang again gets red items and special items and others have to work their asses off to craft good items.

Just asking. To me this seems like you are again creating a rift or special group within Sundren that will get all the goodies and leave mere droppings for us mortals - ala 1,500 xp or whatever petty item or gold a noble is willing to provide.

IMO, the only way this works is that the noble houses every quarter or six months are in turmoil and their is a noble house war, in which others get the chance to become part of the noble houses. That way you spread out the possibility of more RP for others, they get a chance to gain special items, and become part of the Sundren lore.

Ask me why I think there are special cliches within the game, I have been with this server a long time, more than most of you and I have seen it over and over. I could name names, but everyone knows who the newest cliche is and what they do. I see it all the time on this server, especially in time zones when there aren't that many people on.

So, I reiterate, if you do not attempt to level the field and give others chances at these titles or other things you server guys do, it will be a failure. All you will attract are those cliche guys and their sychophants.

I am stating this for the server, not for myself. I have enough gear as it is, hard won through buying, killing, and crafting, so don't think I am saying this because I don't have stuff myself. I am stating this because a server will die or not be as good as it can be unless you include everyone!

I am not speaking for GD but the way I read this concept is that any noble PC character that has been created can participate in the game with a limitation of only one noble per house per month. Sounds like to me if you want in all you have to do is create a noble PC, get it accepted, earn some coin and enter your PC into the contest. Game on from there.

My biggest suggestion is to cut down the number of noble houses to only three for this game. Three is a good conflict number.

This looks like an turn-based strategy game embedded within RP, which I think is a fantastic idea! But it also looks like a ton of work to manage. It helps greatly to have PCs involved, but spreading them thin over too many noble houses means you'll probably have some "un-manned" noble houses. Given that the number of PC nobles will be restricted, it might serve your interests to tighten the base a little bit.

I thought about that, which is why I added an option for houses to not participate. When there aren't any players in a noble house available, the control falls to the DM. If there are players lacking, the DM might decide to have the house decline taking part in the contest.

That being said, Hellstrom and LaCroix will always 'play', and so a noble player will always have someone to play against.

As far as I know, only two houses have nobles at the moment. I think that's why GD was soliciting noble bios for the January RPoTM contest. http://www.sundren.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18241

Any possibility of extending an invitation to the Bristlebeard affiliates as a Noble family? There's already a hiarchy and notable champions who are associated with the Skull Cleavers.
                              Cheers!

This is something I have been meaning to address. Players who wish to raise their PC's to nobility will not be able to currently, due to the newness and relative untested nature of the nobility system.

The people who were able to join the nobility did so because of remarkable wealth, feats, or luck. Furthermore, their houses have been entrenched in the timeline, giving some of them centuries of existence. As players, it is certainly an understandable wish to take your PC's to new heights politically.

However, as far as Sundren nobility and authority is concerned, your PC is someone who hasn't generated the wealth, the prestige, and the service to Sundren required in order to join the upper ranks of society. Keep in mind, this isn't an OOC matter. Your PC's are the heroes and the villains, and everything in between.

But the simple fact remains that no matter how powerful or wealthy your PC is, they don't measure up to the standards that the 'elite' hold themselves and their families to. There may be a time in the future where this can be reconsidered, but for now I wish to settle any lingering doubts about making your PC nobility.

As far as the Bristlebeards go, they have little to no contact with the Sundren nobility, being so far from the actual valley.

I appreciate the community's understanding on the matter, and I invite anyone to PM me on it if they wish to discuss it further.
