Point being Clerics get Skills in PnP to aid them with certain tasks that help them follow their dogma. If a cleric is not granted the skills in that area then there is no need for them to completely follow their Dogma in game. Otherwise I just see it as a DMs excuse to try to bash on someones character, to try and say "Hey your shit stinks" when in fact its the game that made the stinky.

That's like taking Hide and MS from a rogue and laughing at them cause they only have it as a cross class skill. Plain and simple, DMs should not try and humiliate a player when the game is screwed up and not the player. They don't get it as a skill then shrug and move on. Simple day, no need for petty BS.

I also strongly agree with this, just because I am said class does not mean that the PC does not have some curiosity. Most PCs tend to be sentient enough to go learn what ever they want to. How hard is it for a character to Pick up a book and read it?

Where are DMs trying to humilate or bash players?

I remember a specific event where a commoner came up to a priest of chauntea and basically did this in front of others around the Second Wind Inn, then griped at him in tells saying you should have said skill because of your dogma. I told the player to not worry about it as its not even a cleric skill.

I don't know the specifics of that instance, but it sounds reasonable to expect that a cleric of nature should invest in nature based skills. Clerics are definately responsible for following their dogma. Its not impossible to invest in cross class skills. You're arguing that because its a little harder to do, you shouldn't face some kind of repercussion for not doing it?

            I'm going to disagree.

Hrm, then perhaps a quest or a few can grant Knowledge Skill Tokens for completing them like the rubbings quest. You go out and learn about the tribes of the Viridale and the ways in which they communicate. Surely your character should be able to learn something about Nature by doing so.

I thought we had wooden 'druid' armour to combat this; like Wildwood or Ironbark or some such?
Was that not included in the crafting system when it got revamped...
