I have noticed that with the crafting system on Sundren, SOME recipes... a small handfull... require two crafting benches be together in the same area. Ie, you need a combination. The example most obvious to me is the Belt/gloves (cannot remember which) of Strength+2, which require the Magician's Workbench and Forge side by side.
This combination, as well as with some other recipes I believe also, is not present in any publicly accessible crafting area... and therefore I must assume that it is only present in guilds' private crafting areas, such as the Thayan Enclave.
As things stand at the moment, it is hard... and so it SHOULD be... to gather the materials and spells to craft magic items. As an example, the belt: (I'm working for memory, so the details might not be accurate)
Need frostfur.
Need a belt mould.
Need a PC with a high enough skill to craft the frostfur belt.
Need the frostfur belt as made above.
Need bull's strength, or someone else to cast it at a high enough caster level (Violet cannot, Transmutation is her prohibited school)
Need Magician's workbench and Forge side by side (Not publicly accessible)
Need a Bloodstone (Hard to find, at least for me)
Need the Recipe.
Need the Gold.
Need, I believe, more Skill or someone with it, in... armoursmithing?
As you can see, there are a lot of steps involved. As there should be, making such an item should be hard, and it should involve lots of steps. HOWEVER... with regards to the crafting benches together not being publicly accessible, I think this is a step too far. There is a point where difficulty becomes un-fun, and though I believe guilds should have their own perks, such as DMs, and quests, and their own items, I do not believe that crafters should be forced to either join a guild to craft, or negotiate with them - especially when it would be OOC to do so, for that particular character.
There is also a tendency here, for crafters' customers' players to become frustrated and angry at the long time it can take to find the right crafting benches.
I think that scarcity of materials, and the requirement of co=operation between characters providing skills and spells in the crafting process is a great thing. But I believe having crafting benches side-by-side not publicly available is a step too far, and retards rather than enhances the RPing of the crafting process.
I'd like to, if I'm allowed, humbly petition for there to be publicly available, or at the very least more commonly privately available to MOST guilds), these side-by-side crafting benches.
