  • Solving the age old Exigo campfire issue

    Ok DM's I have it.

I know every so often it becomes a real pain that every PC on the server goes and sits around the exigo camp fire and it's hard for you guys to stimulate events from there all the time.

etc etc there are so many issues with that camp fire i won't go quoting and repeating them all over again, you guys know the deal.

Why not have the Exigo trade camp accessible only through the crossroads area?

I.E. when you click on the exigo camp icon on the map, you come into the crossroads then have to walk to the trade camp.

It would get rid of the one port jump and rest in an area that you can also sell all your crap, thing.

I can't be bothered to go into all the details why. Think about it, it solves a lot of issues and makes sense for so many reasons.

Well, it would make the crossroads fireside more popular? Im not sure if thats a plus or not lol. Its pretty hard to remove this 'issue' As alot of people just want a place they know they can walk in for some casual Rp rather then hope you run across someone in your day to day activties. Its a social center to meet.. perhaps not the most realistic way to handle things, but without hundreds of citizens to help support our characters, a central hub will always be around

If the crossroad campfire becomes more popular, the evil people won't have a place to chat... they always seem to go there.

Crossroads used to be the only map point, then the trading post was developed and it was made the primary.

It is the way it was intended.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

I am going to quote this next time a group of DM's goes on an Exigo trade post, campfire boycott.

Just because it was designed to be a high traffic area doesn't mean it's wrong for DMs to hate running events there.

That kind of goes hand in hand.

              Everything in moderation.

We already solved that problem. No cookies for campfire carebears! *slap*

Ill have to start hanging out where it would be natural to hang out.

-Pel should stay near the ranger outpost
                      -Fal by the druid glade

I can see the Druid glade becoming the 'new' exigo in a few months time and we will have the same problem again.

Or people can just do what there PC would do.. A ranger in the woods a drunk orc walking in the city and so on.. Just play your people out.. Granted I do stay at the camp fire but that is because no one will walk around the city and what not..

I found the solution is to put a script that randomly casts meteor storm on the campfire. I've found that such stimulations keeps the area high traffic but people don't risk staying too long.
