A Noble Wedding

Olivia receives and looks over the invitation carefully, and soon sends a reply back to River and Byrun.

River and Byrun,

As a devout of Lathander, not attending the ceremony and the celebration of your impending marriage would be a thing of great regret. I will do my best to attend. Though I am unsure if Knight Kimaris will be able to attend along with me.

Laudaneer woke up in the barracks one day, absent-mindedly listening in to the conversation by the people in there. He heard about the wedding and shrugs, grinning.

"Guess I need to stretch my legs a bit, eh?"

He searches his wardrobe for proper garb and sends a letter stating his attendance to the Hellstrom Castle.

After much internal debate on a suitable wedding gift, Vindir finally settles on a wood carving. It's wasn't like he could afford anything that the couple actually needed or would want. With as careful precision as he could must with his meager skills (Woodworking 14) he set to carve a small wooden statue of a man and a woman looking into each others' eyes. On the bottom he engraves the statue with "Never Forget".

During the weeks leading up to the wedding, Dryn found himself up to his hips in Sundren wedding politic. A brief conversation with Chime within Helm's church resulted in both his own near marriage to River along with a realization of just how much was left undone with respect to seeing Byrun and River's union legally recognized by Sundren government, to which the Hellstrom family still swore fealty. More surprising still was Byrun's indignation towards the wedding arrangements Dryn had to make in isolation, matters which he should had seen to personally. Perhaps this was merely an attitude common to youngest sons of noble houses, regardless, Dryn couldn't help but feel disappointment in how little charge he had seen Byrun take in a matter as personal and important as his own wedding.

Dryn labored on despite his feelings, both out of a desire to see his word held and to honor the union of River and Byrun. After digging out his old Grumbarian vestments (and having a few seams let out), Dryn commissioned a stone tablet to be made by Whurest's finest stone worker, the center of which featuring a detailed relief of Byrun and River together in embrace. In dwarven tradition, Dryn had carved glyphs in common which detailed important dates in the couple's journey together, beginning with their first meeting in the near the upper-middle of the tablet and spiralling clock-wise along the outer edge to the date of their wedding on the tablet's lower-middle. It was Dryn's hope that in this fashion Byrun and River would continue to record the important events of their life together. A timeline which eventually would fill the tablet's negative space and completely encircle their depictions at its center.

His gift to his satisfaction, Dryn refocused his attention on the wedding ceremony itself. After adding rites of Sune and Helm to the ceremonies schedule, he submitted annotated copies to both Chime and River for their review after including a small note:

Enclosed you will find my outline for the coming ceremony. I maintain the ritual in seven parts, a number holy to the Earthlord. I welcome any insights you may have to offer.

Note: I feel it wise to have invoke Sune's presence first. Schild mountain has seen terrible conflict and endured much pain. I would first ensure Sune's presence to keep at bay any malevolence which may yet linger.

Note: Vows will be exchanged with Byrun and River's hands, together, resting flat atop their wedding rings which, in turn, rest upon a tablet of stone. Before the vows are given, I will briefly call upon the spirits of stone to gather close and bear witness.

Byrun will offer his vows first, followed by River.

5) Binding of the Rings & Blessing of the Union

Note: It is at this point that I will call upon the spirits of stone to bear your oaths to the Earthlord and ask that your respective rings become bound to the keeping of the other's oath. After which time, I will ask Byrun to place River's ring upon her hand and, similarly, River to place Byrun's.

I do not know what the rites of Sune will involve, and I expect that Helm's representative will ratify the union within the eyes of Sundren law.

Finally, Dryn sends word to Angus Ironforge to do what he can to secure and prepare Schild bunker, in order to bulwark wedding guests should some threat make itself known.

James' letter of invitation remains unopened on the back of a workbench as he toils away on yet another project within the Skull-cleaver Facility. With any luck it will remain marginally uneventful throughout the festivities.

[Fateful Encounter]

Hellstrom attendants spend days preparing for the grand occasion, setting up tables and chairs, preparing food, and assembling decor in order to transform what was once a war-torn mountainside into a spectacle to behold. Under their Thane's direction, Whurest forces reinforce security at their bunker. Blackwood forces line the perimeter of the event with archers and guards.

As the day of the big wedding approaches, noblemen and women begin to make the long journey from their estates towards Schild. Most are eager to partake in the festivities and to forget their troubles - at least for a day - though there is some grumbling about the distance of the venue and worried whispers that the Bloodmaim threats lies but a few leagues to the north.

Giledan returns a day before the festivities from his weeks-long journey to Luskan with a ship full of ale. He will of course attend.
