Scouting The North

In recent weeks, an aged dwarf has been seen walking and talking, at length, with representatives of House Meriadoc. While normally not unusual to see lines of strange folk formed outside Castle Meriadoc, this dwarf bears the aegis of Whurest (a General or Thane, accounts vary) and has personally toured several decommissioned ships within the harbor.

A brief period of silence stills whispers before a call for skilled cartographers and tested explorers to join with Whurest in searching The Spine for new caravan paths to the sea begins to spread throughout Avanthyr.

Dangers will assuredly abound, but for those bold enough to endure in one of Faerun's harshest environments, great adventure (and likely riches) yet await.

This venture is joint between Avanthyr and Whurest/Blackwood/Exigo. Those allied and friendly to both are welcomed.

Should too many be interested, preference shall be given to Whurest and those representing Avanthyr (as selected by Evelyn Meriadoc).

2nd and 3rd EST hit me right in the middle of days off. Barring the usual last-minute work/life issues, I can probably make anytime on those two days, assuming a decent alarm clock. My degree of alertness will vary depending on the time, though. Probably best if someone else takes point...

Handed the the official scheduling of the time over to Doubt. I suggested we stick to Thursday or Friday starting around 2PM EST.

Doubt hasn't gotten back to me as to whether he preferred Thursday or Friday, so...let's try for Friday (1/3) @ 2PM EST.

We have many folks interested and depending on how many show up we may have to limit who participates. It is either that or let Doubt cull our numbers via more Darwinian methods.

You jumped the gun! Been waiting on some last minute conformation, didn't have time this morning to reply before heading off to work and once there... Well, the phone receptions shit at 37000ft!

Right, the Event will start at roughly 2pm EST on THURSDAY (that's 7pm Zulu) and continue until you're all dead! I may need to take a break at some point during the event to take a skype call, but I'll do my best to minimise the impact.

Friday's out as I've been invited to an event where I'll be looking all swish and even more gorgeous than normal.

Please let me know where you intend to start out and what your rough starting intentions are (IE: starting at Whurest and heading North East, starting at avanthyr and surveying the coast by boat, or starting at avanthyr and heading up the spine from there) , I'll then be IG a little while before the start to set up all the traps I need to kill you all, but I need to know which direction to work things in.

Bah, so close! Ah, well. Apologies for the confusion. We may possibly overlap with a Nature Faction event, speak up if you intend to participate in both. Perhaps GD would allow for late adds to the event should folks want to participate in both.

The plan is to meet with Avanthyr's forces on foot, just outside Aquor to the South. Lead them through under Whurest's banner and start the expedition from Whurest. A brief rest and resupply, and the expedition is to head North/North-North-West from Whurest towards the coast. Once we reach the Western coast we start marching along the coast towards the valley: charting and otherwise adventuring.

Dryn has agreed to pay 1,000 stags per week for a ship and crew from Avanthyr to explore the coast heading North along the Western coast. Depending on how you and Evelyn want to play that out, this could be co-occurring with NPC crews as far as I am concerned. Whatever you both think is best.

One more request: Inventories. Let me know here what non-standard inventory items you wish to take with you. Once the event is under way you'll be relying purely on what you are carrying and what skills you have, I'll mock up items to cover a range of things and will provide them IG to keep a track of things, I'll take the monies from you prior to the event start. If the items are rare then you also need to give an account of how you plan on getting them.

If you require things you don't want the rest of your team to know about (IE: You want to take 15 litres of deadly poison to ensure no-one but you returns alive) then just PM me with the item requests and how you intend to get a hold of them.
