After a while, a sign-up sheet appears at the Dragon. Anyone seeking to work as a trainer or help clear the area surrounding Mirakus of bandits is encouraged to sign one side of the sheet (Patricia helps the illiterates), and anyone seeking free basic combat training should sign the other side.

A copious amount of coagulated blood spattered over the old Viridale Legion Camp is indicative of the grisly slaughter that occured there earlier. In the abandoned front gatepost, a parchment bearing an increasingly familiar symbol appears.

      To all who commit banditry:
Let this slaughter warn you of the error of your ways,
Those who prey on the common folk will no longer be tolerated.

Times have been hard on all, but together we can prosper.

If you seek to repent your ways, there is hope.
Report to The Drunken Dragon in Mirakus Post, and seek the Lord-Marshal.
Food and coin are there to be earned.
Your sins will be forgiven if you learn to defend.
      Protect the Weak
      Fight with Honor
      Live with Strength.
The poster also begins appearing along the various roadways leading to Mirakus Post, often near clusters of shallow graves or suddenly emptied bandit camps.

*Angus Ironforge departs the Drunken Dragon and immediately posts a fresh parchment on its front door*

Know ye all who volunteer to join Zek's militia that he is not Lord Marshal of Mirakus Post; rather, a concerned citizen and pub owner who wants to organize a volunteer force.

Militias need not be sanctioned or supported by any government, but can and have been crushed by rightful authority when overt conduct, such as speech and organization, is deemed as insurrection against the established order.

Zek's militia is against banditry, as is Exigo Syndicate and any other craftsman or store owner. For this he will likely get little complaint.

But, know well what Mirakus Post means to Exigo before calling a Hin Lord Marshal of Mirakus Post. Exigo Syndicate's Headquarters sit atop Mirakus Post. Exigo funds the security that guards its entry and exits with Blackwood Company mercenaries at the ready.

I see no reason Zek's Militia can not exist in Mirakus Post so long as Zek recognizes Exigo Syndicate's authority and position in Mirakus Post. Accordingly, he would immediately stop using the title of Lord Marshal of Mirakus Post and adopt something more suitable that stops at the boundries of his militia.

        Signed
        Angus Ironforge
        Runesmith of Exigo
        Cheers!

While cleaning glasses during one of the times Xaayne is out harassing ne'er-do-wells, Kristie quietly asks Pat how the heck Zek got a printing-press in the basement.

Xaayne is often seen walking the roads surrounding Mirakus Post, joined with increasing frequency by freshly-recruited members of his militia and, on special occasions, by a murderous golem. Whether or not his efforts are having any impact on local threats remains to be seen.
