*Puck stands up again and exclaims* I will nominate Peter! Someone needs to lead us against the evil squirrels, and he is very smart when it comes to squirrels.... at least I think he is.

Fine. Fine. You want to play leader and feel important.

I object to this leadership of five. It is folly. There is no guarantee that the leaders will appropriately represent the views and agendas of fellow members.

Instead, I propose that sub groups be formed of individuals with like minds and sensibilities, and that one leader from each sub group is elected to represent that group on the council.

It seems everyone agrees on a council of five.

* Norian turns to Z'huul * Not everyone agrees.

[Shadoweaver]

Z'huul Replies "I see your point Sir Norian, but I believe you are in the minority."

*Shakes head* Norian, is it? What you suggest may be more democratically appropriate, but you risk division between the subgroups. This is what happened to the Hand as we know of it today... following a similar course, is, in my opinion, folly.

[sparkeh]

Peppington patiently sits and waits with his hand up while the others debate. He tries clearing his throat a few times to draw attention to himself.

"Ex..E..Excuse me? Excuse me? I rather think that it might be a good idea to draw members of this ruling council from the different disciplines of the Arcane. One from Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Illusion, Necromancy, and Transmutation Schools. B-but thats eight..If..if thats ok?"

[rustediron]

*Val considers this for a moment.* Hmm... that seems reasonable. However, what of those who dabble in all magicks?

[sparkeh]

Peppington strokes his beard nervously whilst thinking.

"Oh..er..hmm yes yes good point. B-but I would contend that..er..if we were to adopt this model of leadership, th-those positions should be held by specialists w-who have a..deeper understanding of the workings of a particular school, th-then we can all learn more...you see?"

[Shadoweaver]

Z'huul speaks up. "Ladies and Gentlemen, you need to consider that as of now we have a membership of about a dozen people. What you are proposing is more leaders than followers. Please consider this in your deliberations."

[sparkeh]

Peppington tugs his beard nervously as he speaks.

"Oh er yes well I see, yes quite. Well then..perhaps we need to start with the most important schools. E-ermm...illusion is obviously important so that must be in, erm...enchantment we can leave out..as with necromancy as well..."

[rustediron]

I'd say abjuration, transmutation and enchantment are all different paths to a similar goal...

[sparkeh]

"oh goodness yes good point, they can be combined"

* Norian looks at Peppington incredulously * Surprisingly, this is a very good idea.

Being that the whole point of this organization is to freely share knowledge about the arcane and represent the many faces of magic, it's therefore very appropriate we draw members from each of the different disciplines.

What better way to ensure diverse knowledge? What better way to ensure all disciplines are represented?

It does not matter if we do not have representatives for all of these disciplines at first, for that will only encourage us to grow and find suitable candidates. It may also convince a young mage to take a new, unexpected path in order to fill a void.

The organization exists to protect us politically, better inform those who do not understand--and perhaps fear--magic, and most importantly promote the study and discussion of all things arcane. For now, we could do worse than encourage 8 masters of each discipline, with perhaps one generalist.

Peppington beams as his idea gains some support.

"Goodness, well..yes quite yes. Erm..i-if I may be so bold...."

Clears throat

"...I am somewhat familiar with the Illusion School of the Arcane..."

*You suddenly hear a pure voice rise above the din, singing a ditty concerning a naked lady and a unicorn. As everyone turns to see what the commotion is behind them, a tall, lean man with long blonde hair strides up*

I am Elric Gallows, writer, singer, wand maker, rabble rouser, and dabbler in the arcane. I nominate myself as a member of the leadership. I think there needs to be someone in leadership that has intimate knowledge of other types of magic other than dusty books and ill lit libraries.

Therefore, I nominate myself to be one of the leaders of this assemblage. If you need references, I know Cadmus and my magic has helped him before.

*Elric smiles and then walks back to where he was before, in the back listening to the debate*

*Cadmus stands up looking over the assemblage, loudly clearing his throat as he gathers his thoughts*

It do be true that an elected council of eight would indeed represent all factions of magic, and as Eric so humbly stated, perhaps he could fill the void of the generalist with his Bardic knowledge.

The council was formed to foster open debate and collect knowledge gained from all disciplines of the Arcane. If the majority of those assembled do wish to have such representation then perhaps this is the course upon which we must travel down.
