Nadya Frost
Race: Half-Leonal (Aasamir template)
Age: 17
Class: Shaman (Witch)
Alignment: Neutral
Race note:
She would mechanically be an Aasamir for balance and fairness reasons. She gains no extra perks whatsoever, and is only different from an Aasamir in appearance and backstory. The purpose in establishing her as a half-blood is to give her a very uncomfortable and inhuman appearance, which can not be hand-waved as "pretty girl with a tail". She looks like a monster to the uninformed commoner, and should be shunned as one.
Description:
Quote:
A simple scarf and hood covers the face of this young woman, from behind which peer a set of golden, animal's eyes. When seen, you notice her face takes on a feral shape that is a mix of man and beast; her black lips hiding a mouth full of deadly teeth and her nose taking a sharp downward slope like that of a wild animal. A long tail stretches behind her, nearly as long as the girl is tall, which ends in a white tuft of hair to resemble that of a lion. Though she rarely leaves any skin exposed, that you might glimpse appears to be covered in a layer of short, snow-white fur.
When she speaks, there is a bestial rumble in her words. Often you might see her look off into the distance at some phantom that has caught her eye, or hear her whisper to persons unseen. Whatever this creature is, her feral, inhuman eyes and unnerving mannerisms immediately put you on edge.
(Occasionally you may also notice a small, black, fox-like head peek out from the safety of her hood. Those knowledgeable of wildlife would recognize it as a flying fox, or, fruit bat.)
((Note: Nadya's physical features make her an alien, outcast character that avoids towns and settlements.))
STR - Perhaps owning to her lion-like heritage, Nadya is quite strong and muscular.
DEX - Though she possesses a natural grace, this is somewhat lessened by her clumsy, accident-prone nature.
CON - Nadya is healthy, but not remarkably so.
INT - Nadya is clever at times, but not remarkably so.
WIS - Constant whisperings and offered insight from beings unseen give Nadya a deeper perception on the world around her.
CHA - Once the initial shock of her alien appearance fades, Nadya can be enchanting, though very exotic. This does little to help strangers trust her at first glance, however, as many believe it to be supernatural trickery.
Backstory:
Nadya lived a rather quiet and peaceful childhood, in solitude with her mother. An experieced herbalist, Nadya's mother provided tonics, herbal remedies, and set broken bones for the local villages who could not afford the services of divine healers. She carefully hid Nadya away from any patients and visitors when they came calling, worried that her daughter's unusual appearance would be misunderstood.
From a very early age, it became apparent that Nadya had a strong affinity for the unseen spirit world. As a child she would talk to creatures who did not appear to be there, and in return for her kindness towards them they would guide her to rare herbs or interesting forest locales, and warn her of oncoming dangers. She spoke often of one friend in particular, a great white wolf who appeared by moonlight. Nadya's mother trained the young shaman as best she was able, but her own connection to the spirit world was minor at best.
Nadya never met her father, though as her mother was a normal human woman and looked much different from Nadya she had many questions about him. Her mother would explain that she had gone on a great journey in her past to stop a wicked man, and she and her companions were aided by a celestial being she fell in love with. Both knew they could never stay together, being what they were; Nadya's father returned to places unknown after their quest was done (and after tearful goodbyes), but not before fathering a child by the mortal woman he dared to love in return.
Last winter, Nadya's mother came down with fever, and quietly passed away. She has been on her own ever since, her only knowledge of the greater world being the books she read as a child and her mother's stories. But with the guidance of the spirits all around her and the great white wolf that haunts her dreams, Nadya knows she will find her own path in the world.
