    ----------------------------
    Nadya Frost

    Race: Half-Leonal (Aasamir template)
    Age: 17
    Class: Shaman (Witch)
    Alignment: Neutral

    Race note:
She would mechanically be an Aasamir for balance and fairness reasons. She gains no extra perks whatsoever, and is only different from an Aasamir in appearance and backstory. The purpose in establishing her as a half-blood is to give her a very uncomfortable and inhuman appearance, which can not be hand-waved as "pretty girl with a tail". She looks like a monster to the uninformed commoner, and should be shunned as one.

    Description:
    Quote:
A simple scarf and hood covers the face of this young woman, from behind which peer a set of golden, animal's eyes. When seen, you notice her face takes on a feral shape that is a mix of man and beast; her black lips hiding a mouth full of deadly teeth and her nose taking a sharp downward slope like that of a wild animal. A long tail stretches behind her, nearly as long as the girl is tall, which ends in a white tuft of hair to resemble that of a lion. Though she rarely leaves any skin exposed, that you might glimpse appears to be covered in a layer of short, snow-white fur.

When she speaks, there is a bestial rumble in her words. Often you might see her look off into the distance at some phantom that has caught her eye, or hear her whisper to persons unseen. Whatever this creature is, her feral, inhuman eyes and unnerving mannerisms immediately put you on edge.

(Occasionally you may also notice a small, black, fox-like head peek out from the safety of her hood. Those knowledgeable of wildlife would recognize it as a flying fox, or, fruit bat.)
((Note: Nadya's physical features make her an alien, outcast character that avoids towns and settlements.))

STR - Perhaps owning to her lion-like heritage, Nadya is quite strong and muscular.
DEX - Though she possesses a natural grace, this is somewhat lessened by her clumsy, accident-prone nature.
CON - Nadya is healthy, but not remarkably so.
INT - Nadya is clever at times, but not remarkably so.
WIS - Constant whisperings and offered insight from beings unseen give Nadya a deeper perception on the world around her.
CHA - Once the initial shock of her alien appearance fades, Nadya can be enchanting, though very exotic. This does little to help strangers trust her at first glance, however, as many believe it to be supernatural trickery.

    Backstory:
Nadya lived a rather quiet and peaceful childhood, in solitude with her mother. An experieced herbalist, Nadya's mother provided tonics, herbal remedies, and set broken bones for the local villages who could not afford the services of divine healers. She carefully hid Nadya away from any patients and visitors when they came calling, worried that her daughter's unusual appearance would be misunderstood.

From a very early age, it became apparent that Nadya had a strong affinity for the unseen spirit world. As a child she would talk to creatures who did not appear to be there, and in return for her kindness towards them they would guide her to rare herbs or interesting forest locales, and warn her of oncoming dangers. She spoke often of one friend in particular, a great white wolf who appeared by moonlight. Nadya's mother trained the young shaman as best she was able, but her own connection to the spirit world was minor at best.

Nadya never met her father, though as her mother was a normal human woman and looked much different from Nadya she had many questions about him. Her mother would explain that she had gone on a great journey in her past to stop a wicked man, and she and her companions were aided by a celestial being she fell in love with. Both knew they could never stay together, being what they were; Nadya's father returned to places unknown after their quest was done (and after tearful goodbyes), but not before fathering a child by the mortal woman he dared to love in return.

Last winter, Nadya's mother came down with fever, and quietly passed away. She has been on her own ever since, her only knowledge of the greater world being the books she read as a child and her mother's stories. But with the guidance of the spirits all around her and the great white wolf that haunts her dreams, Nadya knows she will find her own path in the world.

    Lucinian Metimesu

    --------------------------------
Lucinian Metimesu is the son of a mulhorandi priest of Lathander. His father, Meti, converted to the worship of Lathander in his youth when a missionary came through his village in the Asanibis region of Mulhorand. Meti was disdained for turning to a non-mulhorandi deity, but his family loved him dearly and their wealth protected him from any more overt attempts to silence him.

For many years, he championed the cause of Lathander and ministered to a small flock of faithful. As he grew older, he had yet to father any children and in his prayers he began to beg Lathander that he be allowed to find a woman that would bear his child and be a blessing to his progeny. His prayers were not answered for many years, yet he never wavered in his desire. Finally, in his 52nd year, he met and married a beautiful young mulhorandi woman named Paniwi.

The two were deeply in love and soon, in the year 1350, a child was born to them. Paniwi died in childbirth, breaking Meti's heart. Shortly after passing however, her body exploded into a million points of light which coalesced into the form of an Agathion. She explained that she was a servant of Lathander. She had been sent to take mortal form so that she might bear Meti a son blessed by her divine essence. She touched the babe on the forehead with the point of her sword, a weapon forged of pure light, and declared he should be named Lucinian and that he would serve Lathander as a paladin. She also promised Meti that when it was his time to go to Lathander that she would be waiting for him.

In 1352, Meti's family left for Sundren with the Exigo expedition. Meti remained behind, but his life became more difficult now that he was bereft of the protection of his families wealth. Nevertheless, he continued to tend to his flock and to raise his son.

Lucinian had a lonely childhood. The mulhorandi priests saw him as an outsider because he was not begat by the mulhorandi pantheon, so they encouraged others to shun him and his father. Meti's flock consisted mostly of older people and slaves, so Lucinian had no one his own age with whom to interact. But wisdom beyond his years combined with his good nature endeared him to the elderly followers of Lathander, and he learned much from their collective experiences.

In 1370, Meti had reached the venerable age of 74 and he was dying. Fearing that the pharaoh Horustepp III might have the mulhorandi priests drive Lucinian out violently after his death, Meti gave his son the last of his earthly possessions and charged him to visit the temple of Lathander known as The Spires of the Morning in Waterdeep. He also told Lucinian to seek out his remaining mortal family in Sundren. Meti's youngest brother, Remmao, would be old but should still be alive and presumably still plying his trade as a botanist among the Exigo Syndicate.

Lucinian arrived at The Spires of the Morning in late 1371. The priests divined the truth of his story and his celestial origins. He was quickly brought before High Radiance Ghentilara where he recounted his story along with his desire to travel to Sundren.

Lucinian remained at the Spires for a few weeks while he was evaluated by the Lathanderites. The priests tested his knowledge and found his understanding of Lathander's doctrines to be provincial, but acceptable. The paladins tested his physical prowess and found him to be a gifted fighter with a natural inclination for the warhammer. After having proved himself capable, Ghentilara declared that Lucian was to be admitted to the Order of the Aster at the lowest rank and sent to Sundren.

      Kali Erebus
      -----------------------------
      Name: Kali Erebus
      Race: Human (With fey blood)
      Age: 20

Description: Kali is a tall and lanky young woman. When not slouching, she stands just a touch over six feet tall. She is far too thin for her current height, appearing to be underfed. She doesn't appear to care much of her outward appearance. Her red hair is often full of twigs and various plants, and she keeps it manageable by keeping it short and in braids.

Kali goes to great length to hide her eyes from others. When she is not doing so, the most obvious thing to look at would be her eyes. They are terrible scarred, scorch marks surrounding them.

Personality: Kali is first and foremost a loner. Melpomene is the cause of thing, telling Kali from a young age that others are there merely to be used and not to be trusted. Because of the influence of the fey, Kali is also a cruel woman. She is quick to insult, and quick to back up her insults with violence if it comes to it.

It was shortly after her first birthday that the trouble started. Kali's parents soon began to notice that Kali would not play with the other children in the village, and that she would often be seen talking to herself. To try to make their child more social, they would often invite the neighbor children over. But then the accidents started happening. During a simple game of hide and seek, one of the children would suddenly have something topple over. One little girl ended up with a broken arm from a heavy wooden chest falling from a shelf on top of her. Eventually, the children stopped coming.

As an adolescent Kali was constantly teased and picked on by other children. No one was able to hear Kali's special friend, and many children called her names because of it. Kali soon would become a very lonely child, shunned by other children. Adults even whispered about the girl, wondering what could have happened to cause such an odd child. The only companion Kali would have as she grew up was her special friend; the one she could not see but always knew was there. Her friend was always there to comfort her during the night, tell her stories to cheer her up, and to give her advice on how she should handle the abuse from the other children.

This nameless friend quickly became a bad influence on Kali. The accidents that happened around her when she was younger could not be blamed on Kali herself. The pressure of the nameless friend would often cause Kali to lash out and fight with others. During one fight with a teenage boy, Kali was so vicious that she blindly reached out and grabbed the nearest object to bash the boy with. The object turned out to be a rock, and because of the beating the boy fell into a coma.

As she grew older, Kali continued to be very solitary. In her teen years, she was able to discover just who exactly this invisible friend was who had always been by her side for as long as she could remember. The invisible friend explained to Kali that they were able to speak because Kali was special, Kali was feyblooded. Somewhere back in her past, an ancestor had a child from a relationship with one of the creatures from the Feywild and over time the blood thinned out. Her parents were likely not even aware of the feyblood, the fey told Kali, and because of it she needed to keep their friendship a secret. Her fey companion, Melpomene, informed Kali of a secret ritual she could assist her with. A ritual that would awaken the feyblood within her and help her become powerful. And so in the middle of the night Kali gathered her things and left, without any parting words to her parents.

In the pitch black of the night, Melpomene led Kali away from home and away from all that she knew. She took her deep within a forest, away from any civilization. The two travelled for days, Kali eating only what she could forage from the area around her. Finally, when Kali was about to collapse from exhaustion, Melpomene told Kali she could stop and rest. When the sun rose, the ritual began. Kali would never speak of what occurred that day, but her screams rang out through the forest. When it was over with, Kali was changed forever. Scorch marks were evident around her eyes, scarred. Her feyblood was awoken, and with it Kali was able to now actually see her fey companion.

After the ritual, Melpomene started to show herself to Kali less and less. The fey was always there to tell her what she should do, but when Kali would actually need help, Melpomene was nowhere to be found. Mostly alone, and now needing to hide her appearance, Kali set out to learn more of her blood and the power within it.

        Jenny Greenteeth
        -----------------------------------------
        Jenny Greenteeth

“She'd thought of it long ago, back before the worst of her inhumanity had surfaced and she'd still been naive with her heart.

A young man had slighted her, a young man who she had somewhat foolishly believed, loved her.

Amongst the various revenges she'd plotted was her take on an old mermaid legend. she planned to promise the young man an exploration of the undersea realms, her gills providing enough air for the both of them.

Of course, there was really no way of providing him with air past what she had in her lungs to begin with, her gills functioned along side her lungs, not in conjunction with them. By the time the young man would have realized, if her realized at all, he would have been half delirious with recycled air, and far to deep for him to surface alive.

She hadn't gone through with it of course, instead she'd stolen his clothes while he took an early morning swim, earning him a healthy dose of humiliation as he walked back to town naked. but it wasn't the kind of idea you forgot.”

        The Past
Jenny is a water genasi, born to unknown parentage and of unknown extra-planar lineage. She was left as a giftling at the rear door of a shipwrights operated by Elman Defar, an ex ships captain turned ship builder and cleric of Valkur.

Her life at the shipwrights was enjoyable in many ways, seen as something of a blessing from Valkur she was always treated well by the crews and workers who came through the shipwrights, the chaotic, bustling dockside of her home city gave her glimpses into strange and foreign lands and filled her head with stories from around the globe, adopting the name Jenny Greenteeth from one such tale.

As she grew she began to earn her keep, her ability to breath underwater rapidly becoming a prized ability, allowing her to check or undertake minor repairs without the need for the ship to be dry docked.

In recent years she began to develop a wanderlust and desire to experience life beyond the docks, first it was just long walks or swims away from the city, slowly the length of these trips began to grow into days away, neglecting her work at the Shipwrights.

Eventually she needed to leave for good, Defar was understanding (“I was young once”), giving her a good set of clothes, some extra coin and paying her way on a reputable ship to the Sword Coast.

        Current Lifestyle
Since leaving the shipwrights Jenny has worked her way around the coast doing what she can to earn money. Largely this has been working with fishermen or other coastal workers herding fish, collecting pots, amber, pearls, repairing boats and nets or other work that her innate abilities and training allow. She earns additional money from retelling the stories or songs she heard growing up, often embellishing them to having first hand knowledge of vast underwater kingdoms or to be able to sing the songs of whales or other aquatic creatures.

While her obviously inhuman appearance has landed her in some trouble and seen her chased out or accused of strange witchcraft, her status as an occasional lay preacher of Valkur tends to buy her some small token of protection.

Her travels have been slowly taking her Northwards, up the Sword Coast, currently she's booked transportation aboard the Sea Sword toward a land she keeps hearing about, Sundren.

        Appearance
Tall and lean, with an almost gangly silhouette. Her skin is much like that of the dolphin, almost entirely hairless (except her head), rubbery and prone to drying out if she's away from water for to long (although unlike dolphins she dries out in days, not hours). Her skin is mostly a dark blue-green, with darker mackerel stripes across her back and a lighter belly, where her skin is thinnest is takes on a reddy hue, almost scarlet around her eyes, nostrils and spiracles. This striking red is also evident in her hair which is normally held in place with shells and scavenged jewelry.

Her face is inhuman, her large eyes are bright yellow with pupils that can go from almost whole-eye wide, to tiny pin pricks, depending on light and conditions (an adaptation for underwater light or depth-of-field). her nose is little more than a ridge with two closeable slits at the end, similar to the nostrils of a seal. Further openings (spiracles) are visible in the indents above her collar bones and just below her bottom ribs. These allow water to enter and exit her ribcage and the gills within, providing her with the ability to breathe underwater. They are normally concealed and protected by her clothes, only exposed when she intends to dive or when naked. Her mouth is wide with thin lips concealing a formidable array of sharp pointy teeth (a smile often puts pay to any "I hear you can hold your breath for a really long time, wink, wink" comments). There is some webbing between her fingers and toes, though she often wears gloves with additional webbing.
