    Journal (in elfish):
Today was unnerving to say the least. A ship was spotted in the distance so I was ordered to go down below and stay put until the captain came for me. I thought this was odd but remembering the rules set forth I did as instructed.

I had been mending ropes for some time before I felt a sharp turn and the whole ship rocked like we hit something. I was going to head up but stayed as instructed. I sunk behind some creates as I heard metal clanging, screams, and smelled smoke. It seemed like an eternity before the captain came down for me. I was so relieved that I jumped up and went to hug him but he stepped aside and stated it is all safe. He went on to state that it was pirates and they fended them off.

“It’s all part of being at sea” he said as I rushed to the deck to see for myself. Other than a pile of ropes that were cut down, I did not see anything unusual. As I walk off with new ropes to mend I noticed a column of smoke in the horizon, but I did not question.

      Journal (in elfish):
I was setting some rigging as I have done so many times when the Captain called me down. I sensed he was displeased with my work. As I approached he simply stated that there was a change in clothes in his cabin. Relieved that is was not my work I went down to change. My dress was pretty beaten as I had mended it so many times before, removing sections from the bottom to mend the top. I looked around but could not find a dress anywhere when it struck me that he was referring to the pants and shirt on his chair.

I slipped them on, used the makeshift belt to keep them up and headed out. There was a sound of displeasure among the crew and the captain yelled “get back to work!” so I did.

I have started to pick up most of their language and am starting to be able to converse with the crew. It was nice to be able to talk to people again; though I still could not fully understand the cook. It was always lass this and lass that. I think he was not from the same land as the rest for he was much shorter and very stout. Even though I could not always understand him he was cheerful and made me smile.

Another ship was spotted again today so down below I went. This has been the fifth one sense we set sail. Someone should do something about all the pirates, when we hit port I will have to complain to the authorities. It does keep me occupied while we head to Calimport. I cannot wait till we get there; I have told we are only a couple of days away!

We arrived at Calimport today, but there were no signs of her anywhere. In despair I’m getting set to head off for home, Saelmur or perhaps even Ankhapur. I feel lost without Alex! Why did you leave without saying good bye?

Today I was saying my goodbyes, even kissed Mogar on the head. He is the cook and it turns out he is what is called a dwarf. Well I was set to leave when the Caption came running up the plank to inform me that he had a lead. It turns out one of the local fisherwomen , “hookers” I think they’re called, informed the Captain that a woman that fit her description was there less that a fortnight ago and that if the fisherwoman was correct, was headed to Candelkeep. We are to set off the next morning.

We had been at sea for a week when the first ship was seen, the next three days later and the next just a day after that. Each time I went bellow only coming up then the Captain came for me. It has become a routine, the Captain would fend off the pirates and I would pick up then frayed ropes and take down the torn sails to go below and mend them. I have tried to thank the Captain and crew for protecting me but they would usually laugh and say “it was all in a day’s work”.

I never knew a merchant’s life was so trying. And for them all to be so immune to the perils as if they expected it.

Today another ship was spotted so I when bellow and prepared for mending. As I was getting my things outs then a loud ruckus was at the door then when a man busted in! The Captain was not far behind. The man was running towards me with sword in hand when not 2 feet from where I was froze, a sword was trusted into him. The look on his face I will never forget, it was that of fear not anger. Then Captain quickly dragged him off yelling “barricade the door!” as he left.

I’m not sure how long it was before the Captain came for me. I was still frozen clutching the needles and twine in my hands thinking of that pirate’s face. Not the menacing face I thought it would have been.

I was high above the ship working on the rigging with some of the others when the Captain called me down. Apparently now that I’m dressed more like a man the others feel brave enough to climb up and help. How they did this prior me I do not know.

Once down the Captain stated that the other day was too close and that I needed to learn to defend myself. My training began instantly for without saying another word he tossed me a sword. I caught it and in one swing it was pointed at the Captain. He let out a bellow of a laugh when the others chimed in. “Oh a natural boys!” I told I use to play when I was younger. I left out it was just me and my sister and I always had the advantage being much taller. I remember him saying “This is not your toy girl” and he drew and came at me. Instinctively I parried. I was no match for him and in no time I was on my back looking up into his eyes. For a moment I thought I saw something in his eyes but soon he was smiling and putting his handout to help me up.

A moon has passed and I have become quite proficient with a blade. I think I’m better than a lot of the crew! I spend my free time swinging from the yardarms swinging a sword saying stilly things like “get to work you dogs” and "avast me hardy". The men would laugh and say “they had a real pirate on their hands”.

I feel so alive! It has been so long I cannot remember the last time I felt this happy and its all because of My Knight, My Captain *little drawn hearts*

The crew is in good spirits today; the Captain gave word that we are heading their home port in the “Nelanther”. Not sure where that is or anything for that matter. I have been onboard for what I think is the better part of a season. It is hard to tell for the woods always gave signs but the sea does not.

Today we reached port and the men departed like younglings from school. We are to be here for a few days for the Captain has business to take care off. Prior to departing from the ship the Captain pulled me aside and said that I’m free to wander about but to stay close and if I get into trouble to mention his name.

I’m not sure what he meant by that but it is late and tomorrow I will venture forth.

Most unusual thing happened today. I went into town as I had planned. The place was wild; everyone acted like elderbeasts, rude and drunk. This is unlike anywhere I have ventured to before. Sure there was always some place in town that had these types. I remember Naresh telling me to stay away from places like this, now I’m immersed in it. That should have been the unusual part but it was not. The crew acted this way on many occasions. It was when I was approached by all the rude, dirty men, when they found out that I was traveling on the Avion, they either turned into gentlemen or ran away completely. How odd. I will have to talk to Mogar about this.

Still in Nelanther, I ventured forth again. It was a different experience today; many were gracious right from the start. They would even part ways for me to pass. It was like I had some yathmuth on my shoes, but I did not, I checked.

Ran a crossed a pretty dress in a shop that took me in. I think I spent the remainder of the day just looking at it. It was much shorter that I was accustom to but the look of the fabric it almost shined in the light, the gold embroidering most defiantly did. Perhaps someday!

I awoke this morning and to my surprise the dress was laid out on a crate next to my bed. I picked it and held it against my skin it felt so wonderful. Looking up I saw my reflection, what a mess, I could not put it on looking like I did so I deiced that I would take the few coins I had never spent and try to get myself more presentable. I put dress in a bag and started to head out when I noticed the note. I could not believe that I did not even think about how or who. The note read:

“I noticed you admiring the dress and I knew that you deserved such finery”

It was written in elfish so I know that it was my sweet Caption. So off I went. I did not know where to find a bath and from the looks of it nether did most people here. Then it dawned on me that the fisherwomen usually knew things others did not so I found a building that they seem to congregate. After talking with a few and stating that I wanted to look presentable for Captain Zephon, they took me by the hand and led me into a room that was filled with pretty things.

I spend the day there being bathed and pampered. There were always two or three different girls taking care of me. They all giggled and talk to themselves. I felt like a princesses. They even cut my hair! I had never had that done before but by the time I realized it was too late. When they were finished I could not believe my eyes! I was beautiful! I never thought myself more than an awkward girl but today I am a beautiful woman. I thanked them and offered my coins. They refused to take them and went on to say I was not a “woman yet but that would soon change”. Not sure what they meant by that but I did learned a lot about “flirting” today. I was surprised how much fisherwomen knew so much about men, but I guess being around the docks they had a good amount of time to observe.

Well I’m going to see if I can “run into my Captain”.
