  • Favorite Monster

Just out of curiosity, what are everyone's favorite entry in the Monster Manual? There are practically an infinite number to choose from, but list your favorite (or at least one of) here!

Mine happens to be the Nimblewright. Technically from MMII, but hey, who's counting?

    NIMBLEWRIGHT

Nimblewrights are humanoid constructs of strong, light metal. Their construction favors flexibility and speed over durability, but high end nimblewrights are terrifyingly power. They have twin rapiers attached to their hands when needed, and can cast haste at will.

    EXPENDIBLE NIMBLEWRIGHT--- Level 13 Minion
Medium natural humanoid (construct)--- XP 160
    ---
    Initiative +17; Senses Perception +8
HP 1; a missed attack never damages a minion
    AC 27; Fortitude 25; Reflex 27; Will 25
    Speed 7
    ---
[Melee basic] Rapier-Hand (standard): +17 vs. AC; 7 damage (12 on a crit).

Attack Run (standard; at will): The nimblewright makes a basic attack. Either before or after this attack, it shifts 4 squares.
    ---
    Alignment unaligned; Languages Common
    Skills Acrobatics +18
    Str 19; Dex 24; Wis 15
    Con --; Int 16; Cha 19
    Characters:
Peridan Twilight, one-eyed dog of the Legion, deceased.
Daniel Nobody, adventurer and part time problem solver.

    [DM] Poltergeist :
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge an intermediate deity's unbridled fury.

Night Twist. Night Twist isn't my favorite, but it's a pretty cool monster that I encountered in one of my PNP campaigns. Was cool.
Lauan - knight of Thay " I have no fear, and death is merely an inconvenience to me. I do not die until ordered to do so, I do not fall until every last bit of life has left me. I stand tall, proud, a Thayan knight."

Oh... more stuff to torture players with... great idea!
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Going along with Mach's idea of odd shark-like things...

DnD really needs to add in really random things like this.

Well, you could implement the Crysmal:
It will attack anyone who has a gem on him/her to devour it.

                              Black Dragon

Ah the Black Dragon quite possibly the coolest monster in the Monster Manual... I just don't know how any one could not want this in there game .

                              Black Dragon
Black dragon are sometimes known as skull dragons because of their skeletal faces. Adding to the skeletal impression is the gradual deterioration of the hide around the base of the horn and the cheekbones. This deterioration increases with age and does not harm the dragon. On hatching, a black dragon’s scales are thin, small, and glossy. As the dragon ages, they become larger, thicker, and duller, helping it camouflage itself in swamps and marshes.

                              Snippet from the Draconomicon
Black dragons are among the most evil-tempered true dragons. They prefer dismal swamps or bogs, the more stagnant and fetid the better, but can be encountered anywhere water and dense vegetation are found together-including jungles, rain forests, and moors. They have no natural enemies, though they attack and kill almost anything unfortunate enough to stumble upon them......

Black dragons are especially fond of coins. Older dragons sometimes capture and question humanoids about stockpiles of gold, silver, and platinum coins before killing them.....
