We absolutely need a swashbuckler. I'd even go so far as to suggest the "Dashing Swordsman" (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Dashing...Prestige_Class))

The duelist class has constantly let me down, and I think we really need a class that strikes fear and theatricality into the hearts of his/her enemies. Granted I probably wouldn't be able to play it for a while, but I would love to see the option! =P
    Characters:
Peridan Twilight, one-eyed dog of the Legion, deceased.
Daniel Nobody, adventurer and part time problem solver.

    [DM] Poltergeist :
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge an intermediate deity's unbridled fury.

Once the expansion is released it will be mandatory to play on Sundren.

Am I the only one who thinks it will make duelists obsolete or vice versa? I don't see much difference other than the ability to wear a chain shirt.

I like the swashbuckler a lot better as a class then the duelists. They are more fun in rp ! I mean who wouldnt want to play one?

Sure the will be a fotm .. till people get tired of them. But in the FR world think how many of them there really are? I mean the shiping/trading industry? The pirates floating about the seas causing havoc? Or perhaps the Harbor cities are full of them?

Actually, Anony, the swashbuckler is pretty much a fighter based on dex (weapon finesse for free, for instance) than a pirate ripoff, though of course you could do that, regardless of the fact that scimitars cannot be finessed.

Unless you're say, a Dervish, one of my favorite PRCs. Both are in Complete Warrior.

You mean just like a duelist?

Well, the big difference here is it is a base class not a PrC. It would replace or enhance the rogue/fighter combination normally required to become a duelist.

Ok, maybe I can derail my own thread....

It was announced the Maximum Cap for SOZ is 30 ... not 40.

Obsidian is not implementing the last 10 like Bioware did for HOTU.

Good, level 30 is crazy enough anyway. 40 was just stupid.

Yeah, for a yardstick, some of the GODS are only level 40. Talos is one example. Even level 30 is basically a demigod, or a mortal with the powers of one. No self respecting PnP DM would ever let their players get past 30, sometimes not even past 20. It gets to the point where you can't make anything difficult, and eventually you just raise your players to godhood and make them start over at level 1.
