Yeah, that was pretty cool. I was just looking through it, and seems as it was not a kit, was an actual class (well, you could start up as one..could be human, dwarf (?!?) or halfling. Mostly it is like cross between a thief and an assassin, even had a few spells in the mix.
I forget where I found em, but my file is dated April 2002, so has been a while.

Bah, posted that in before I started writing.
Looking at the handbook for em, they are pretty much like a mage or Sorc with abilities and weaknesses, in a way they have more weakness and need to concentrate more, though their abilities are pretty much instant (with but a thought) where Sorc & Wiz's need to actually cast. They could balance it out if they really tried, it is just too much work for them or they make up new classes for some reason. Harper Agent? Neverwinter Nine? Even though they are prestiege classes, would think Psionic would be more of an appeal then those two.

I think they only made the Neverwinter Nine class because they wanted some class of their own creation in the game, has anyone ever seen the Neverwinter Nine in one of the books before? I don't think I have.

      Rhime - or is he?

3rd edition was supposed to do away with the need for kits, with multiclassing and feats and skills. Build the character you wanted with some creative feat selection and multiclassing.

Unfortunately it failed miserably, as the billions of PRCs attest to. Don't have anything to fit a character concept? Make a new PRC!

3rd edition is just too restrictive at the core to really allow that. Classes are too well defined and feats are too few and too weak to help create a custom "class". Multi-classing with caster classes is just suicide in 3rd edition.

4th edition is supposed to be even better for multiclassing, but I have no idea how it will help with kits and PRC.

I'm not gonna turn this into a psonics rant, namely cuz it has no place in NWN2 or Sundren really. Psionic/Magic transparency is not what I was concerned about. There are a number of places where psionic characters gain advantages that mages don't; no power effects, no verbal, somatic, material components, and they can take 15 concentration checks! Its just scary.

Heh, yeah, here it would be difficult (to put it light) to balance them out right. When I played them (pen & paper) they were good, unless somebody got up close to you, then ya are toast. Looking at this handbook I started remember some of the perks and downsides to them. I think when they came out, anybody could have it (then they came out with an actual class). I think you did a roll to see if you had ability and such. Was kind of neat, just something added to a char's abilities, like Iron Will (which is now a feat) and such (which I think a few of the spells/skills are now feats and/or melded into spells). Oh, and was not meaning for these classes to be introduced into Sundren, while it may put some extra classes and such into the mix, just do not think it would fit well in here as well.
Cool thing about the Ninja was the ability to climb walls and such, that was fun..made it real hard for DM's (heh, I remember fustrating a few with that since they did not plan on it).

"Do the goblins have any bows?" "No..." "I climb the wall."

No, they are unique to NWN2.
