Pretty much anything by Iain M Banks. Love his stuff..
Perdido Street Station by China Mieville blew my mind, The Scar and Iron Council by the same author are OK, but can drag. (though the golemist stuff in Iron Council is great)
Terry Pratchett, yup.. winner.
G.W. Dahlquist's Glass Books of the Dream Eaters was great, though poorly edited.. The second book in the series The Dark Volume bored my face off.
Neil Gaiman - American Gods, Anansi Boys, Neverwhere, Dark Omens.. Fantastic.. Must reread American Gods again soon.
Alan Moore - Sure, they're graphic novels but they need a place on anyone's bookshelf. The Watchmen, V for Vendetta and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.. Frankly, they make me moist.
Just for the pretty pictures I'll recommend the Doomed series of graphic novels, particularly the Ashley Wood book, plus Lore illustrated by the same. Actually.. Just buy anything by Ashley Wood.. He's great. Zombies vs Robots vs Amazons still makes me chuckle. Oh, plus Tank Girl, both new and old..
Apart from that my bookshelves are about 90% illustration books and assorted art and architecture tomes..
You're right. I can't top that. (Dr. Seuss is just totally unknown here, too hehe)
Wheel of Time, Robert Jordan. Hands down my favorite fantasy series ever. Despite it dragging on a bit in the middle.
Also a good sized collection of Eddings, And Piers Anthony
Annaleen Wiltenholm-There's always something to smile about. Chani Kalera- Intimidation is the new diplomacy. *looms* Eleanor "Bloody Elle" Lark - Why is the rum always gone? Yolanda Brown - If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. But unless life also gives you water and sugar, your lemonade is going to suck. Astrid Hammerhand - Och!
Stephen Lawhead's Paradise War Trilogy. Its a really obscure series based on celtic mythology (not forgotten realms.) I've never really gotten into his other books but these have always been my favorite.
I've tried the Drizzt books by R.A. Salvatore but honestly, they suck. I only spent 5$ on them at wal-mart and have considered bringing them to the range for target practice.
I own RA Salvatore's Legend of Drizzt Series and Sellsword series. On "Halfling's Gem" in Legend of Drizzt as far as readin through them so for.
Llew ... you suck j/k
I've tried reading a few D&D authors since starting to read RA Salavatores books and I've nearly fallen asleep through each one only his writing so far as been even remotely exciting. I haven't tried Ed Greenwood though and i've heard good things about his stuff.
