  • World of Darkness - Vampire the Requiem

Okay, this is a separate campaign that I am starting from the GURPS one, but it's something I'll be running on Sunday evenings. A couple people who were going to be involved had a change of life schedule, so I figured I'd give Sundren people first didbs.

First, this is my first time running Vampire the Requiem, so yeah, it'll be an adjustment for me. But I was looking for two people who might be interested.

If anybody thinks they might want to try it out, you know the drill, reply!

We'll be using Fantasy Grounds with a WoD module, so character sheets and all that are in the tool.

      LOOOOOOL, no, not at all.

Look at some videos on Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines for the PC game. It's that same genre but Pen & Paper.

      It's Grimdark, yo!

I may be interested in joining this, but I will have to get a few answers first:

        1) Do I have to buy some kind of license to play? I have downloaded the software, it's listed as unregistered, I'm not sure if I will be allowed to use this for long or at all.
        2) Is a microphone mandatory?
        3) For Sunday evenings, which time-zone do you mean?
        4) Is it ok for perfect noobs who have no idea what this setting is about and have no clue about the rules to join?

Fuck Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines! Go to Steam or GoG, buy Vampire: The Masquerade-Redemption. Such a good game, even if the graphics are kinda meh. The followup was just not that great (although it was worth it just for the entire haunted house segment which was genuinely creepy).

I like how the setting twists biblical lore into vampire lore (nothing terribly new, but interestingly done) and running around gnoshing on city guards, vampire hunters, other vampires....it's just fun.
I can't slow down, I can't hold back though you know I wish I could. No there ain't no rest for the wicked until we close our eyes for good!

            1) No, I have ultimate license so I can host for free players. I bought it for a pathfinder I used to run.

            2) No, we do everything in client, actions, emotes, etc, much like Sundren.

            3) I'm EST (GMT-5)

            4) Absolutely, everyone involved is newbs to the system itself, not everyone to the Genre, but it's one of the easier systems to roll up chars for and get involved in.

This is Requiem though, so while the Masquerade genre is similar, this has no metaplot to force you into an existing story as a GM, you can run whatever you want and they just give you ideas of bloodlines and factions you can work with, or invent your own Which I like more, cuz I like to be creative, heheh.

I know nothing of the system though I'd be down for a Sunday night EST try of it. Haven't done vampires in awhile. I was simply pointing out you recommended the worse of the two games to drum up interest in vampire games. Would be like suggesting "Walking Dead:Survival Instinct" instead of Telletale's "The Walking Dead"!

                  Ah, thanks for the answers.
I'll try to see if I can be available this Sunday evening, eventually I will post on this thread if I can join or not.

Now that I think of it, I did play a Vampire: The Masquerade game several years ago on PC, it was an old game, with the main character being a sort of knight/paladin at first, that then turns into a vampire at the beginning of the game (much like Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen), then it went on to modern times, but I did not finish it.

You can find most of the materials for free on the internet, if you're savvy with torrents.

I wish I didn't have a rotating schedule, because I love Requiem. Not only is there no metaplot, but the way they made vampire blood a sort of an evolutionary thing that can change and adapt much quicker than the bloodline and clan variations found in Masquerade was brilliant.

No to mention doing away with Generation (which sort of pigeon-holed a vampire into bitch status if they were too high and unwilling to sacrifice humanity rapidly through diablerie) in favor of Blood Potency (which increases over time and through use, and that makes a lot more sense).

Don't get me wrong; I loved (and still love) Masquerade; but Requiem is just such a dynamic system. Have fun.

I'm up for it, if there's still a slot for it. I ran a Vampire the Requiem campaign (very) briefly. Friggin' players wouldn't show up for it.

Uh, to be honest, considering my familiarity with White Wolf, and the fact that I have source material here- I'd be more interested in this than I would be the GURPS.
