I could make my own big effort post like Gatestrider did above, but I would merely be echoing many of his statements and wasting my time and everyone else's. So, for starters..

There is, however, one thing I would like to that to said post. The problem, in my eyes, is not that the situation resulted in PvP. In the month+ish I've been around, I've seen a shitload of here it, and been on the losing side and winning both. Sometimes, you just get unlucky and run into the enemy while out alone away from civilization.

Not 2 weeks ago a junior BH member was trying to solo up some levels and got gibbed 3 or 4 times in a single day by Triad/Legion PCs. No meaningful RP, just killed between groups of mobs. Likewise, I'm sure BH PCs were doing that to Triad/Legion PCs well before that, too. It's a vicious cycle, and people get trigger-happy from it.

And that's what the issue here was, really. In a trigger-happy rush to start the PvP, RP was left by the wayside. In this particular case, it was a lone Tyrran who was running from orcs and ran into our party. There was so much taunting/bullying/mocking that could have been done, but mechanics were resorted to instead.

That's the true loss here. That PvP 'victory' gave us nothing. No satisfaction, no character growth, and no more than a couple minutes of "Well that was particularly unsporting" RP afterward. It certainly didn't give Elizabeth anything to RP about either. Sundren is supposed to be an RP server and when RP is being ignored in favor of roflstomping someone mechanically, that's a disservice to the players who came here expecting more.

To be clear here: I love PvP. I greatly enjoyed GD's patrol event, other various group PvPs I've been party to, etc. I just think there's a lot more potential for enjoyment if Team Good and Team Evil's reactions aren't just to start buffing when the other group loads in. (Unless, of course, the other guys load in fully buffed and hostile ).

And I'm not trying to high-horse it here. I'm relatively new and as one can see by highlighting Gatestrider's logs, I was present (stood in the back and watched).

By the logs, I don't see that anything was done poorly at all. Looks like the Tyrran should have run instead of standing still and expecting the slaughter.
