Feast for Crows was... well carrion, as in dead rotting and not fit for consumption. Like a whole book from the cutting room floor. I was pissed after reading that one. The rest are good enough I guess. Still have yet to finish the last one as I lost my momentum on FfC.

This. Unfortunately GRRM loses his way on this series. The first few books are really good but they start to fall apart in feast for crows. IMO the last one, dance with dragons, was even worse. I get the feeling GRRM is just milking the story for dollars and ruining it in the process.

Is that anything like The Walking Dead?
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Because if it was then it would probably also be awesome, just like The Walking Dead.

For anyone who hasn't read the books, what did you think of the Red Wedding?

The difference between a rogue and a hero often comes down to who tells the tale. – Danilo Thann describing Elaith Craulnober, in Dream Spheres

I was surprised, not at the deaths, but at the suddenness. I didn't like it much. Though, I've come to expect terrible things from the author. He is a depraved and evil writer, I applaud that.

That episode is one of the reasons I refused to get into watching the show. I got attached to those characters once.

                          Never again, I said.

Having never read the books I was fairly surprised at the last episode, in some way I suspected it, but in another way it seems like that plot line really fell short of expectations. Of course I have no idea what happens next so I will reserve judgement.

Maybe it's partially a good thing, I got bored of having so many side stories go on at once only to have the whole episode taken up by sub-plot.

Yeah... maybe don't read the books then.

They're actually really good, but there's about twice as many plots going on in in the books than what you see on the show.

There's definitely parts where its: "IDGAF about how awesome Dorne's water-gardens are, Martin! Get back to Jon Snow FFS!!"
