Ya know, you can throw together a NWN2worthy computer for 3-400 USD, even less if you have an old computer to salvage from. Sure it takes more time and effort, but it's rewarded with a cheap, good system along side bragging rights
And you can put Rainbows on it."Mad" Jack Flynn - "Godless wanderer"

Refer to my thread about paypal. It demonstrates that I know NOTHING ABOUT ANYTHING. I'm not going to try to build a computer. I wish I was brave enough.Pyras: Red Wizard of Thay, High Arcanist of Illusion, Master of the Enclave's Knight Commander.
Currently taking apprentices, and conducting research.

You don't have to know a lot, you just have to master the art of google-fu. Putting a system together isn't as scary as people sometimes make it out to be.
Lollipops taste good too (gotta keep this on topic)"Mad" Jack Flynn - "Godless wanderer"

Yaaay!!! I have my graduation present: a laptop! Hurrah. I'll have to spend all of tonight installing my games onto this baby so I might not be in game tonight..or if I make it, it'll be uber later. Dude this thing is so nifty. In has voice recognition. I typed most of this entire message using just my voice talking to the computer. It's actually pretty cool. I have to do some more voice training with it. But it's recognizing my voice very well.

I've been thinking about getting a laptop so that I can have something to take with me to school every day (I commute to campus), but I still can't get over how expensive they are for the equipment you get in them, for the same price a desktop that's twice as good can be built from scratch. So I'll probably hold off until they are a bit easier to make than they are now, then I'll just build one. sighs If only they were more like desktops...Akodo

I dunno how much this one cost..My dad built it on dell.com . It'snot an amazing system (not a gaming laptop) but it's pretty decent. It's specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo, 2ghz, 2 gigs of ram, 8400 nvidia geforce graphics card. If it wasn't under 1000 it was prolly just a liiii'l bit over since my dad has never been a careless spender.

First of all I wish my parents bought me my first computer, second... that is a nice machine. But that videocard is pretty crippled, anything less than 8800 for the Geforce series is a gimped card. I'm talking NWN2 at lowest settings probably. Or close.Originally posted by Things Muffin View PostI dunno how much this one cost..My dad built it on dell.com . *clears his throat* Ehem! I'm running a 7600 GT in my machine right now and I can run NWN2 at fairly high settings, as well as my other games like HL2, CS:S, TF2, etc...Originally posted by Saulus View PostFirst of all I wish my parents bought me my first computer, second... that is a nice machine. Unless of course you mean strictly with laptops (not sure how a laptop GeForce compares to desktop, because I don't really stay up to date on laptop gear, compared to desktop).Akodo

My 7600 runs NWN2 on high texture and 1280x1024 without much trouble. Occasionally slows down on a few areas, but it does pretty well overall. I paid a grand total of $250 for my system too. I cheaped out and salvaged a couple pieces from an old computer (40 gig 5400 RPM HDD ftw) and paid $50 for a case/PSU combo. PSU died, so Newegg refunded all $50Originally posted by Saulus View PostFirst of all I wish my parents bought me my first computer, second... that is a nice machine.
