Well, I wouldn't say the person has to go the *emote* way.

There are those of use out there who prefer to do, "speech here," then emote.

    No right or wrong way!

For example, I'm one of those people. I simply find that writing that way gives your writing a more novelization feeling and flows better. People who use the *does an action* seem stilted to me, and it throws me out of the roleplay for some reason.

I guess I'll have to try out both ways. Thanks for the tips!

Now to sum up the courage to get on the server.

Agreed! Emoting anyway is better than not emoting at all.

"Alas, I have been thrown from my roleplaying," Satoshi said. And then, roguethree was thrown from the bus.

Satoshi: "This is the way I prefer to speak," he said, tilting his nose ever so slightly upward.

Dain: Satoshi, are you . . . are you narrating yourself? *arches a brow quizzically*

                    Satoshi: "Nonsense." He scoffed.

Dain: You just did it again; you said you were scoffing as you did it. And why do you keep making quote fingers? Were you saying nonsense outside of its normal usage?

Satoshi: "What, I . . .," he stammered, his cheeks coloring as he grew flustered.

Dain: Dude, that's weird. You can't just keep narrating yourself. People are going to ask questions.

RPotM: His dark, lustrous eyes alight on them both, flecks of starlight dancing about his irises as his the faint whisper of rustling fabric sounds and dies as the black, concealing silk of his cloak comes to rest about boots that shine with the brilliance of their first wear, giving way to fine, fitted breeches and a tunic of an obviously exquisitely tailored cut. He smiles, and it's dashing. "I . . . you mustn't . . . but I love you!"

And that's why I voted for the other guy. You don't just show up with one layer of spit polish and expect to leave a positive impression damn it. You've got little flecks of it all over the place now, work them in next time. Start over, and I swear, if they end up spackled because you're too damned lazy to strip what's there off you're on gate duty this weekend.

How did that RPoTM ever get voted in? I'd have gotten hungry and gone to make food in the time it took him to respond to a simple question. I might be one of the peasants who still uses asterixes, but damn, if you're spending more time describing insignificant details than pushing RP and dialogue forwards, you need to stop RPing and write bestselling tween romance novels.
