My opinion, note that this is an opinion.

Personally I like druids, just, I dislike metal wearing druids, its bad RP - go ahead and flame me.

Really, what you should consider with a fighter/divine caster is how you want to roleplay it, not which is a better choice. Every class is the best choice in my opinion.

Cleric fighters are generally more common, even if the druid RP is ignored(which on most servers I have played on, it is, completely, not saying asnything about the druids here because I have not had much contact with them, which is good), because druids get abilities, and those abilities, much like that of a monks, get better as they get higher level in druid. Then there is cleric domains... Both are excellent choices, it's just a matter of what you feel comfortable roleplaying.

But if you mean pure druid or pure cleric based around fighting, clerics gonna win in ability, druids just going to be cool.

And about the raising dead, well, you would have to have a good reason for your god to allow you to raise everyone, not that they cant just say no roleplay wise and remain dead if it is their choice.

Personally I think raising dead with magic should be a ritual, greatly increasing the cast time of raise dead and ressurection, though, this would likely cause more complaints than praise.

Sorry, it's my opinion, you don't have to accept my opinion if you don't want to, if you don't want to accept my opinion, you can ignore it, but if you can't accept it and you can't ignore it, well, frankly, I don't care.

druids get some impressive tanking spells and abilities, elephant hide, tortoiuse shell... also, they get several better offensive abilities. It's more a matter of taste, and of course the raise dead ability is a good one... I would focus more on what you want to RP though

        The approach to rez

I agree with Valenator. Returning from the dead is not something that is, or should be, casual. In my experience I have often been met well with the rp-approach that you are merely saving those badly wounded, as Valenator stated. True, the whole badly-wounded thing can get a little old, especially if you are getting your butt handed to you every four steps you take out in the wild, but it is a lot easier to explain and a lot more meaningful than making life and death so mundane. After all, if death is nothing but a minor obstacle, where is the suspense? The main game in NVN2 itself refers to being brought to 0 hp as being knocked unconscious. In the case where your body gets returned to a temple (in some modules) I simply say something along the lines of wandering priests (npcs) taking pity on my poor, pathetic, beat up and bleeding body. Makes little sense if you were taken out in a cave, but STILL better than treating life and death as ho hum. I have read a few FR novels, and I do not believe I have come across any situation where the dead were brought back to life (in the non-zombie way). There was a situation of a elven fencer in one of Cunningham's novels where he was NEAR-dead, but not completely dead. Take note I said a FEW novels. I am not claiming it has never happened in one of the FR novels.

          An example

I just recalled an incident involving my character on another module.

Cleric Toma: Just be careful. I know how you 'adventuring types' salavate like dogs and rush in recklessly when the promise of gold reaches you. Having me here does not guarantee a safe return. Contrary to popular belief, divine magic can only normally save the NEAR-dead, not those completely lost.
Rogue Issen: You talk too much. What counts as ALL-dead anyway?
Toma: Well...When one is completely lost, they tend to produce a certain...'natural' reaction.
Issen: Natural reaction? They DIE. That sounds natural to me. What the hell is your point?
Toma: No, no, no.. I mean they do something... something that many consider.. unsanitary.
Issen: You mean when they?... *points to his rear*
          Toma: ...yes...
          Issen: Ah! That is sick!!
          Toma: YOU asked!
Issen: Ugh, fine whatever. I am going in. (six steps in, a flame trap brings him to 0 hp and flat on his butt)
Toma: Oh my... Issen?.. Are you alright?
Issen: *moans*....ow...yeah... My eyebrows are gone and my face feels like burning stew meat, but my pants are clean, so I think I will pull through. How about you get your metal ass over here, pray to oogmar or whatever, and HELP ME!!!!!

If that's worthy of me being frowned upon as a player... oh well.
No, it is not imo. You have a rp reason for doing it - that is the solution. And with you I am sure it does not stop at the reason but that you also try to see it through. Meaning: Rp with the one Aerlyn raised.

Some people go around raising out of OOC courtesy. Honestly, if I can think up a good reason why Asha could raise someone, I'd do it. If I cannot think of one on the fly, she won't. I remember the times of AD&D when elves could not be raised at all...

It might be better if the slain were played off as mortally wounded, hanging by a thread, and the resurrection spell were treated as some very dynamic healing?
That might be a solution at times... that the raise dead does not count as a raise dead. The reason would only be OOC consideration again though.

I'm going with druid. Sorry cleric lovers but you fail to take into account casting in the wild shape..

Right statistics and this kills horribly

              Str: 8
              Dex: 8
              Con: 8
              Int: 18
              Wis: 22
              Cha: 11

              Anyone?

              Shifted it's something like 32, 18, 30, 18, 22, 11 at level 20..

Yeah, and you can cast in that.

No need for gear? (Did I mention armor properties transfer over? Doesn't matter what kind +5 padded and you receive +5 AC)

Right forms, and +5 armor nets you around 42+ AC for long periods of time(not short)

              heh

Not at all if he finds other to go along with and is involved in a quest or two.

Other than that you touch a valid point - it does not matter that much how incredible a build will be at level 20. It should be fun and interesting to play at all levels imo.
