  • Wiki Request: Item Color Codes

So, I have a general idea of the item color codes from having played on the server for a while, but I am not sure I completely understand them. I was wondering if someone could create a wiki page dealing with colored gear and also maybe a short blurb on faction gear requirements?
    Account Name: LuvHandles
Maneae StrongArm - Devilish Warrior Woman (Active: Finding her place after time in reflection)
Minael Cel'Anon - Elven Smith, Knight and Wizard (Inactive: seeking clues to lost elven artifacts)
Aria Duvaine - Wouldn't you like to know . . . (Inactive: Whereabouts unknown)
Ra'd Malik - Mulhorandi Warrior (Inactive: Off on a mission for the BH)
Khyron Brinsbane - Fury of Auril (Inactive: Working with Cwn Annwn)
Chazre Kenner - All around good guy with a penchant for revelry and chasing the ladies. (Deleted: Team Good, returned to Cormyr)

Unfortunately, I have noticed that while faction gear scales it's reputation requirements depending on the color of a lot of items, there is too much variation to those requirements to have a wiki blurb on them. For example: rings sold to members of the Triumverate with green names only require you are a subfaction member (title of Initiate, which you get as soon as you finish the join quest), while green name rings sold by the head druid to the general members of the Wardens of the Vale require 5000 faction points.
Presea De'Ombre - Fist of the Broken
    Darcy Lothara - Lost Soul
Miyu Suhayl - Defender of Beauty
    Bryna Ulric - Dark Priestess
    Merry Swiftblade - Swashbuckling Tailor

There are two types of stores for factions: parent faction stores and sub faction stores. Items in parent faction stores are based on rep. Sub faction items are based on rank. They use the same colors though. It differs between factions because the number of ranks differs for each sub. For example there are four ranks for druids but like eleven ranks for black hand. But they are broken down fairly equally since all use a scale with Max rep 20000.

Given the variance, a separate section to explain this would be needed for each faction and their sub factions. This can be viewed for each faction by its members simply by looking at the faction store inventory. However if someone has the complete information in regard to this and wishes to itemize the colors on a wiki page I personally wish them the very best and hope they do not get arthritis.

Also, this does not entirely match up with the colored items which are non faction and colored by, I assume, the old level base system which takes into account enchantments and overall value of said item.

        Noril De'nor, Archer ...

These were the items I was referring too, though I did not know about the implications of faction vs. non-faction. The system always seemed somewhat arbitrary and I thought I was just missing the logic behind it. Apparently my assumption that there was a standard system in place was mistaken.

It might be useful to post just the comments from this thread in a short blurb somewhere on the wiki to help new players. Perhaps a sentence or two on the FAQ.

I would wait and see if Cornuto or someone who makes the items has any input personally. This is what I have found and my answer is based on the information I have seen in my time in Sundren. This information has nothing to do with the Staff policy in regard to item creation or implementation. This is simply the best answer I can provide with readily available information.

The items were originally thought of having gold value limits but it was not balanced right to do that. Roughly greens are below 8k. Blues are below about 20k. Red is upward of that. But again the property gold values are not the greatest so there are many exceptions. I wouldn't focus on the colors so much. Just read the item info to know the read.

<-- I made a lot of the items but the standards I used are at least a year out of date.
