Yes can you imagine a lycanthrope MoMF? They'd be so confused...

Thats a good point: a natural shapeshifter with outside shifting ability! That would be strange indeed.

MoMF would likely be the one character that could exert control over lycanthropy.

High wisdom, will saves and Knoledge of nature and the planes.

Only issue I see is if your playing a MoMF, what difference does one more shape make?

A wereform would be such a small thing to add to your repertoire that given the fact you could control and hold it at bay whilst using much more useful forms, it's just not worth the ECL.

Lycanthropes it's a little flat RP for me... I mean, "OMG I can shapeshift in a werewolf ASHJSRHRJHRJRHR you dead"

Vampires, if they are RPed well, they are awesome. Penalties, Bonuses and ECL aside. The RP of a Vampire its most likely driven by the seduction and charisma. That's my constant rant about the people who RPs vampires, because they are Vampire Lesbian Girls who refuses to drink PC's blood. If someday in any server I need to RP a Vampire, my idea it's the Bram Stocker's Dracula idea.

              That's really not the idea

Werewolf RP is fun if it's an uncontrollable 'disease', of which transformation has an increased chance of happening under certain circumstances. Such as night time with clear sky, under physical strain/in combat, on consumption of rare and strange substances or use of magical artifacts, and under emotional stress (the last would only be possible with a DM, though). It has a lot of potential if you really do play out the madness that the were-form brings, since it's bound to make mistakes that provoke authorities on you even if you're an exemplary citizen as your natural self. You'll get all manner of 'hunters' on your back, and can build a strong bond with those few who try to shield you from their wrath. Beyond that, you can have all the characteristics a normal character has.

Playing undead is infinitely less colorful... Sure, you have that charisma/infiltration and supernatural just about everything, with a couple of weaknesses.. But you have to be always evil and the only two things you're going to strive for is establishing power and sustaining your 'blood points'. There's not nearly enough room for creativity except in the planning of how you're going to kill and not get killed. Zzzzz.

I wouldn't mind being able to play a Dryad.

I know that sounds a bit pants but in a way it would be neat to have a druid, ranger or spirit shaman PC, that is attached/bound in spirit to one of the trees in the druid grove.

It might sound a bit outrageous but if it's a RPOTM application thing then your not going to have 100's of dryads on the server and it would add a nice touch to the druids and their grove and plenty of RP potential for druidic plots.

As a race they are NOT ECL

As far as I can see, dryads have +3 natural AC and look like wood, so permenantly barkskinned. This wouldn't overpower a Druid or spirit shaman class because, well if they ever go into combat, they whack a barkskin on and this would just not stack, so there is not really any massive ECL worthy gain.

Dryads do have DR 5/cold iron

To avoid these two things making them ECL, Dryads should not wear armour. If your skin was living wood would you really be able to handle having hide armour pulled over it? You'd also have trouble bonding with your tree with such a barrier present.

As a race they basically have the same stats as a common moon-elf.

Ontop of this they are tree dependant. This means the Dryad needs a tree in the grove that is their tree and they have to be RPed as uncomfortable moving away from it.

Infact most of what I can see about this race is RP, leaving the tree, the grove and doing anything outside in the world must be RPed with Dryad motivations in mind.

I think they are also all supposed to be female?

Another cool idea would be that the dryad could possess their tree and physically dissapear, effectively becoming the tree. So the player could become a silent presence in the grove when it suited.

It's seriously one to think on. I have Mozgul for playing at druidic stuff but honestly i'd love to see a dryad or two in the grove and to RP with them. There are some players on this server who could play lovely dryads.

O.o... a male dryad that would be intresting.

Kinda like the male version of medusa. (the can turn stone to flesh for food, and are bald).

there are actually LOTS of dryads in the monster manuals from what I have read. Some are tied to trees, some feilds, etc. The feild ones actually wander and help the farmers out for about a year or so.

Remember Ragefast the mage and Abela the nymph in Baldur's Gate?

He took her away from her special place and she slowly began to age and die, it would be the same for dryads too wouldnt it? unless you only partied in the viridale they would be nigh impossible to RP as adventurers, much like Liches without a place to stay (somewhere with the major negative energy property)!

*edit* Can you imagine how powerfull a dryad monk would be? hard as a tree with fists like oak!

Dryads are not naturally a lawful being though, and naturally they do what is natural.

Meh, stuff dryads i'm thinking winter werewolves now that the frosty lands are being added to the server.

I'd rather see the half-creature templates, corresponding with dragon, celestial, or fiend. Those seem more fun to me.

From amongst the list, however, it's between vampire and lich. I don't see why everyone thinks these are impossible to play. Sure, a lich would reasonably be KoS, but how many liches parade around in cities without disguising their true form. You'd think some creature with ungodly power and intelligence would use some of those nifty resources to not look like a pile of decaying fecal matter adorning a grotesquely weathered skeleton.

As for vampires, playing something without emotional reactivity isn't as boring as it's being made out to be. You replace emotion with a cold, calculating, methodical outlook. More analytical, lacking in empathic restraints...

It'd be like playing a sociopath.
