I agree. I voted LE, but I don't think in my ramblings I actually told anyone that
Lorlen Locke: "Amazing how the righteous commit acts of tyranny and terror almost as beautiful as our own under their banner of "good". We merely call a spade a spade."

"If you can't learn to do something well, learn to enjoy doing it poorly."

After a great deal of consideration and thought, I came to the realization that this is a REALLY tough one for me to answer. Kudos for the brain behind this poll question.

I forget who began the concept that the alignment is more guidelines than pure 'fact' (much like the guidebooks), but I whole-heartedly agree with them not so much with good and evil (which is fairly black and white in my opinion) but with neutral, lawful, and chaotic alignments.

Rather than go too deeply into some kind of speech that has likely already been said with the eight pages this topic has recieved (an impressive feat), I'll just give my answer.

      True Neutral

All too often I see people use this as a 'convient' form of rp. It allows them to make the excuse to pretty much do anything that is convient for their character at the moment and merely write it off as being in their nature. In much a sense a 'look out for yourself' attitude is VERY True Neutral, however it seems this personality bends and wanes just enough to fit the moment. The pc suddenly cares just enough about the law to help in this or that, cares just enough about good/evil to help with this and that. This is most true in the matter of dm events. All alignments have been guilty of this to some extend, and I will not claim to be entirely innocent myself (my 'curious bard excuse' only goes so far). However, it is in True Neutral that I see this happen most often and shift most often in the hopes of adventure and xp. It also has the benefit of not having to worry about Smite Evil or Smite Good. Yes, I know some of you out there were swayed by that. :P

I will admit I could be incorrect about this though. It is very possible there are some deep quirks about the True Neutral characters that I am just not fully understanding. Seems like that would be one helluva coincidence though.

Luckily Sundren is quite good overall. In my experience with diving into other servers secretly, it seems for every one incident Sundren has, most other servers have 10.

I am pretty sure the mass of votes on LG are really votes on paladins.

I am actually HIGHLY impressed with the paladins as a whole in Sundren.

Silas_North, just so you know, T/N in P&P says that people who jump all over the place are also T/N.

Not saying anything bad about paladins, I play an excellent one if I do say so myself... But what I mean is that it's the easiest and most educated sounding answer to the question... ;P

In concordance to the acting of their character yes, not in the adjusting to the scenario just to be able to emerge victorious (from a personal standpoint rather than an ic one), take advantage of a situation oocly, or participate in an event they likely would not have realistically.

But, as I said, I am no mind-reader. There is something I am perhaps overlooking.

As for Pericles, the fact that he made me laugh as often as he did without seeming to actually try is too great a talent for me to have any ill words about him lol

As a connoisseur of douche-baggery I can expertly give my opinion.
The alignment most incorrectly played is CE.

When one see's a chaotic evil follower of Eldath hugging kitties one might think they we're playing it incorrectly.
                          But I see something more...

Just kidding its obviously true neutral.
Take this short clip as an example of a paragon of neutrality.

have to disagree with BedlamX on this; have always LOVED the system since i read my first player's handbook because it's so complicated. (though i agree it can be confusing for people and for some hard to RP). but considering most games are pure good/pure evil and pure black and white, the intention of ranges of outlooks and worldviews and their consequences is awesome, interesting, and complex, love it.

and my vote for misplayed is true neutral: in my experience people play them like good only, but just don't want to be officially good.

Lawful Evil is the kind of evil person who bends the rules and laws to his or her own benefits but never openly break them. They always keep their word and have a set of morals they follow.

Neutral Evil is a person who are evil just for the sake of evil, they are unaffected by morals but still disciplined enough to have a sense of rank and system.
In short Neutral Evil is the unbiased evil

Chaotic evil is a destructive evil but not in the way most seem to interpret. a chaotic evil person is a person no sense of order and moraility, he or she doesnt doent plan things ahead but instead follow the spirit of moment which by his or her nature makes it evil. In a group chaotic evil people rule by strength of might so to speak..the toughest is the boss end of story.

These are at least my outlines of what i percive the evil alignments to be

I voted Chaotic evil since people usually play then as Destructive stupid. no offense.

This topic is such a tug-a-war. I'm going to skip over the "all of the above" vote and vote "None of the above." People should play the alignment to however they see fit.

I have a few online role playing rules that I follow as a player (seriously, I made myself a list awhile back while frustrated with somebody). The fourth rule being:
Don't criticize people's characters even if it seems they are playing a type (say paladin) wrong. They might have a different angle on LG that you may eventually really enjoy, if you'd just give it a chance.

Of course, you also always play by the DM's rulings. If they decide your action is a chaotic one in their story line, then it is a chaotic action. I've been hit with alignment changes a few times and one of which I disagreed with but accepted as we are players. Sit back and enjoy being a player. Let the DMs be the judge of this system, its their campaign we are playing.

Anyways, to me, the system is just a helpful guideline when building and researching my toon before creation. Helps me decide on what his goals are going to be, his habits, his mannerisms, and other what nots. As does his class, profession, where he hails from, turning points in his life, and his faith. It also helps me down the line when I quickly need to get into the mindset of who I'm playing, especially if I'm revisiting a toon I haven't played for awhile.

If anything, I feel certain people play certain classes wrong more so their alignment. Clerics, druids, and other religious types who don't know enough about their deity is probably my biggest pet peeve. You don't have to know everything, but you should read up a bit. But I'm getting off track.

After the game, the king and the pawn go into the same box.
