  • Sundren Now Updated to 1.13

Yes, go update. You also will need to run the Sundren Updater.

    Here's some new things:

    • Balance
    • Climb
    • Decipher_Script
    • Disguise
    • Escape_Artist
    • Forgery
    • Gather_Information
    • Jump
    • Sense_Motive
    • Swim
    • Use_Rope
    • Knowledge_Arcana
    • Knowledge_Architecture
    • Knowledge_Dungeoneering
    • Knowledge_Geography
    • Knowledge_History
    • Knowledge_Local
    • Knowledge_Nature
    • Knowledge_Nobility
    • Knowledge_Religion
    • Knowledge_Planes
    - These are all usuable via the GUI skill tool.

    - Players can put points in these on level up.

    - Player cannot put skill points in these during character creation because of haks not loading first.

    - Currently only one thing in the entire server makes use of these, and thats the Deep Stalker PrC. It requires 5 in knowledge: Dungeoneering to take it. (This is subject to change, remember we're in a beta, they will all get good use eventually, and with RP you can start now!)

    - All the classes have the correct cross class and class skills set up for these as per PNP.

    - Absolutely NO rebuilds will be given. This is not up for debate, whatsoever.

Then there's all the stuff from patch 1.13 which I honestly don't remember all of it. You can find it somewhere if you want.

Thanks for the quick action and update on the skills we can use now Now I'll have no idea on how to spread out my skills, I have to know though, will this change in what skills are class/cross-class be reflected in the Wiki, I don't have any PNP rulebooks for D&D :P

Who needs books. Just have a looky here...

Ths won't include some PrCs but pretty much should cover it. Also, it will be clear on leveling what skills you can take.

Some highlights from the 1.13 patch notes:

The chat channel will no longer revert to Local when a player transitions to a new area or module.

The chat system now has a /r command for replying to the last private message a player receives. After receiving a private message, the player can enter "/r" into the chat system which will automatically address a private message to the person that sent the previous private message.

The ability to send a private message by right clicking on a character's portrait in the party bar has been added to the DM and player client.

A SetMovementRateFactor(object oCreature, float fFactor) function has been added to the game. This function sets the creature's movement factor to that value. This movement factor is also modified by effects, encumberance, etc.

The GetNextItemInInventory() script function should now work properly with stores.

The last two are the only script updates I recognize. Both have been mentioned in the forums if you look hard enough. My understanding is the movement rate one allows overlapping effects, and the inventory script has something to do with persistent stores.

No love for bards. They should get balance, climb, decipher script, disguise, escape artist, gather information, jump, all knowledge skills, and swim. All of these are currently set as cross-class. But someone correct me if I'm wrong, it could be a bug on my end.

I do believe you meant Dark Hunter? according to the wiki anyhow.

Incidentally something seems to have beaten the heck out of the server. Sean was online at the time so I'm sure he's right on it but it just crashed 3 times in a row within a span of 10 min.

Just sort of an FYI in case your not aware ... okay ... I'll shutup now.

From what I understand, the problem is related to the AFK zone. Those that try to leave the AFK zone by either using the AFK button or with DM assistance, causes the server to crash.

For the moment the AFK button has been disabled to keep poor souls from getting trapped in the AFK zone as well as keeping those unfortunate ones that are trapped from crashing the server by trying to leave.

Kudos out to the staff for jumping on this problem so quickly. I'm fairly certain the problem will be completely remedied in no time, because the staff is pretty awesome.

That is very nice. Skills as Disguise are very interesting.

But I was wondering: what happens to the points we've put into Lore? Lore substitutes the many knowledge-skills, but now that we have them, what exactly happens? Does Lore still exist as a skill to identify items or was it replaced by one of them (for example, Knowledge Arcana)?

Lore is still used to ID items.

I really love the new skills. I just gained a level last night and it was sooo hard trying to figure out what to take. Can't wait to have it implemented in game beyond just RP. (although the RP reason is enough for this server ---- most people will play along)

I hope the DC's won't be too tough for things. With these many skills, it'll be a lot tougher having many ranks in just one skill -- esp considering that most ppl will only get 2-3 skill points each/level.

but in summary, i love it! T

Elijah - Warrior Mage and Legionairre of Sundren. "My axe and my magic will cleave you!"
Duskthorne - Bounty Hunter. "Every land needs a masked man to do the dirty work for them" (personal heroes: The Knight of the Flying Rodent and The Monk of the Arachnid Order)

                              My thoughts exactly.

When a character has 12 points of intelligence, for example, he is already a quite intelligente person, although not a genius. That is how I see it: he is not a chess specialist, but can handle the school very well (that is just an example).

I think the same view should be applied to skills. For example, a character with 1 point to swim should not, in normal circumstances, drown anymore. He will not be the best or the fastest swimmer in the world, but he will be able to keep himself alive in a river.

That is the way I see it. If you have many skills but keep DCs low, people will be able to choose between doing things in a basic manner or becoming specialists.
