  • New spells..

I noticed a few spells on the list in news. Wondering if they were ones i had suggested earlier. Cause i know i suggested several of those spells (Disrupt undead was one of my big ones for necromancy.)

But beyond that i was wondering...

Are we now allowed to make sneak attacks with spells as we should? Particularly cause of this one..

    Wracking Touch
    School: Necromancy
    Level: Druid 2, Sor/Wiz 2
    Components: V,S
    Casting Time: 1
    Range: Touch
    Duration : Instant
    Saving Throw: Fort for half
    Spell Resist: Yes

You lay your hand upon a creature and deal 1d6 points of damage +1 per caster level.(Maximum +10) In addition if you have the sneak attack ability you deal sneak attack damage to the subject as well. Unlike a normal sneak attack, the target need not be flanked or denied its dexterity bonus. Normal immunities to sneak attack are still respected.

Sorry, the new spells were coded back in October and November. But its good to see others have similar ideas.

Ask Obsidian, they keep saying it's in, but it never seems to work right.

    Wracking Touch
Custom home made code was used for this specific spell. Wracking touch is different then what your talking about, because it doesn't have to determine if a sneak attack is valid based on flatfooted, combat engaged, or facing, it always does sneak attack damage unless the target is immune for racial or feat reasons.

well October/November was about the last time i played nwn. possibly even further back.
But maybe this is one server i didn't have my rant about spells and the like from back then.

and Obsidian may have not done it right, but i do know there was a guy who did do it right and has it set up for every spell before MotB that could use sneak attack.

I also had a question - is the warlock's Flee the Scene supposed to have been replaced by Dimension Door? I tested it last night and it seemed the same. Just curious - I know you guys put a lot of thought and effort into the update so I'm not sure what made the final cut. Thanks for the fantastic job!

In regards to sneak attack in touch spells:

I've coded up a sneak attack include (as has Reeron) that is free to use to anyone that would like to use it. The function checks if it should allow for a sneak attack and returns the calculated bonus damage from the various types of sneak attack (0 being sneak not allowed).

I've also recompiled OEI's scripts to use this function (with no other changes) along with my own new touch spells if you care for those either.
