  • Spell change help

There is a massive spell change in the pipes, though far off as I have many things to juggle. The foundation of the change is going to require the editing of every individual spell in the game. That's a lot of tedious work, and it will require a lot of information.

I need to know every castable spell in the game (Sundren custom spells included), what level it is for every class, spell school, descriptors, and toher things I'll add to the below list over time. After I have that info, I can plan phase 2, which will be awesome.

So here's what I need: People to go to the following spreadsheet and doublecheck what I've done so far, and add in any information I'm missing.
    • Spell levels, by class, as they currently are ingame. If the ingame spell level conflicts with the Pathfinder spell level, put the Pathfinder spell level in parenthesis beside the nwn2 spell level.
    • Spell schools, and descriptors, according to Pathfinder.
    • Whether the spell bypasses Spell Resistance or not, according to Pathfinder.

Thank you for the help, and if you have any questions, please post them here!

    Firstly.... *love*

Now, I can go ahead and directly edit this spreadsheet right? Writing in the descriptors and whatnot?

I'm starting now, from "A", so if anyone else does it I suggest they start from Z and work backwards

Yes, I realise my RP writing sucks. Just be thankful I keep it short

You can chat in the document with anyone else who has it opened. And yes, anyone with that link can edit the document.

Many of these spells seems like they don't exist in Pathfinder core rules, and the link you gave for the spell list doesn't seem to work for me.

I'm just doing the core rules spells for now.

Also, if a spell is missing should I add it? e.g. Burning Hands or is it intentionally omitted?

If it's missing, please add it. If there is a duplicate, please remove one.

I don't know what to say about the spell list not working.

A lot of spells have changed names. Tenser's Transformation becomes Transformation. Bigby's Hands become Mage Hands, etc. Once the list is mostly done we can look at the outliers.

I don't see why you have to change the name of Tensers and Bigby... just because they're from an entirely different universe
Bree - Bookkeeper and diplomat of Exigo.

Becky Dragonhin - Sword of the Loyal Fury, Knight of the Triad... the only Good hin in Sundren???
            Cybil Gelley (Retired)
Perry Turnipfodder - aspiring talent, happy chronicler.

Do you want abilities that are scripted as spells?

I think Heartwarder and Triadic Knight have abilities that are on the spells .2da and are in the DM spellbook for instance

After much searching I have come to the conclusion that the cheesy Energy Immunity spells don't exist in Pathfinder! Can I delete them from the spreadsheet? Pretty please...

No more "Is that a holy symbol of [Kossuth/Auril] I see around your neck?" *shazzam!* "I'm afraid I am immune to all your spells"

I'm going to stick with spellbook spells for now. There are so many abilities in the spells.2da that I would start worshiping the Elder Gods if I attempted to redo everything at once.

Please don't delete anything, unless it's a duplicate. We could color code spells that don't exist in Pathfinder, and then revisit the issue later, though.

I'd just as soon change Resist and Protection from Energy to function as they do in Pathfinder, though. Essentially, Resist provides scaling DR based on CL vs a single energy type for 10min/level, and Protection provides immunity to a single energy type for 10 min/level, or until it has absorbed 12 points of dmg per CL.

Since Pathfinder is 3.5 OGL compatible (allegedly), you could also look at 3.5 sources. Energy Immunity exists in the Spell Compendium from WotC:

                    ENERGY IMMUNITY
                    Abjuration
                    Level: Cleric 6, druid 6, sorcerer/
                    wizard 7
                    Components: V, S
                    Casting Time: 1 standard action
                    Range: Touch
                    Target: Creature touched
                    Duration: 24 hours
                    Saving Throw: None
                    Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)

A sense of security fills you as you complete the spell. As you touch the intended target of the spell, the feeling lingers for a moment before fading.

This abjuration grants a creature and its equipment complete immunity to
damage from one of the five energy types—acid, cold, electricity, fire, or
sonic. Energy immunity absorbs only hit point damage, so the recipient could still suffer side effects such as drowning in acid, being deafened by a sonic attack, or becoming immobilized in ice (and thus helpless).

Energy immunity overlaps protection from energy and resist energy. As long as
energy immunity is in effect, the other spells absorb no damage.
                    Account Name: LuvHandles
Maneae StrongArm - Devilish Warrior Woman (Active: Finding her place after time in reflection)
Minael Cel'Anon - Elven Smith, Knight and Wizard (Inactive: seeking clues to lost elven artifacts)
Aria Duvaine - Wouldn't you like to know . . . (Inactive: Whereabouts unknown)
Ra'd Malik - Mulhorandi Warrior (Inactive: Off on a mission for the BH)
Khyron Brinsbane - Fury of Auril (Inactive: Working with Cwn Annwn)

                      Spells with Cone Effects
Since we're talking about spell changes, could cone shaped spells be altered slightly? Mestil's Acid Breath, Cone of Cold, Prismatic spray etc are pretty useless in NWN due to the hard-to-target nature of the spells (when compared with line or burst spells of a similar level).

In fact they usually only affect a single target, making them not worth memorising. As an example it takes me three Prismatic Sprays to kill the pack of wild dogs (CR 4?) in the Viridale.

Could you consider changing their area to a burst like Greater Fireburst?
