Yep, thanks PoV. We don't like delaying the rewards, but we have internal behind-the-scenes requirements that must be met to have a winner. We don't publish them because we don't want people lobbying for votes or looking to work the system for a win.

This vote will only be unfair to players who started in May on Sundren. They're the only people who weren't there in April, too. It would be pretty unusual for a new player to win the award their first month anyway--not impossible, but unusual.

It'll be a new vote next month, so hang in there if you weren't around for April. Let's not make mountains from molehills

Well I've done my civic duty and voted. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to have a "message of the day" kind of thing in-game reminding people to vote. Not permanently, just for the last few days before the polls close. There's a lot of new players who don't even know about the RPotM award and a lot of older people that need reminding. I think a lot of people, like me, procrastinate and miss the deadline. It's really a shame to have the award only 6 times a year and an even bigger shame for anyone to win out of only 3 votes. More votes means it's a lot harder to cheat the system, and it makes the prize more meaningful.

Whatever is done, I think more publicity is the key. It doesn't help to extend the deadline if all you get is a measly 3 more votes.

I don't mind bumping the forum post more often, but our devs have better things to invest their time in than hand-holding to remind people. It's on YOU to vote.

If anyone else has suggestions about the voting system, please PM me. I don't want to have a lengthy public discussion about it. If we don't meet our internal voting requirements, it will be extended.

Again: mountains, molehills. Let's move on guys. Send in those votes.

I love the idea, but it would involve editing the .tlk file twice every month to put the message in / out of the game and then running the updater after. Bit of a hassle really

I find the problem is you have to vote for the previous month with the sense of that month now being over. I will tend to have a good roleplaying session one day and think, "wow that person blew my socks off" and then i have to wait til next month to vote for them but by then I have forgotten the whole thing and what their GSID was or the characters long and fancy name and it just doesn't happen.

Personally I would like to vote for the month during the month and see an award go out at the end of the month.

More of a who is awsome to RP with lately award, rather than halfway back last year.

Oh and yeah every time i have to vote it takes hours to figure it out all over since the interface is so tempermental.

Thirdly, From browsing the forums I cannot seem to find a thread that displays winners and runner ups. I've had a link sent in an e-mail once to me and had a look but where do you guys hide the winners?

It's on the wiki, RPOTM page. Same as where you vote
I once vouched for starting votes for month X halfway through month X up until halfway through month Y (when votes for month Y start). But since the systems behind voting would need to be adjusted for it, would it really be worth the trouble? Hmm :/

Folks, please stay on topic. This is a reminder about voting (which I need to announce shortly), not an assessment of the system. Thanks--

                    And the winners are...

                    First Place: Rastellia!

                    Second Place: Eleanor Rocksprocket!

Congrats to both of you! It is up to you both to seek out your rewards from the DM staff. Read the Wiki to see your prize information, then send me a private message.

My vote must have been whomever came 3rd place.

The three votes were from the first month this RPOTM was for, being april. May was added and more people voted during it.

I just checked the votes, and it went fairly. I was actually pleasantly surprised that this time around half of the votes is no longer going to people for a reason of less than 5 words including 'evil' or 'funny'. That was way worse early this year..

eh...sorry my votes had short answers for the most part. That is due to it being so long before i can vote as well. by the time i can vote for them I barely remember that they were who i wanted to vote for, much less why. XP. on another note, Congrats, and in Rastellia's defense she very rarely leaves being IC. I mean we once had a great group of five together gain outrageous money and xp, with IC reason for why we were doing it, but when Rast's life got threatened she split as her char would even if it made her ooc friends mad. Then she wouldn't actually go out and explore with us for RL days until her char had recovered from the effects of her near death experience....that is some dedicated RP to me, whether she/he has many chars or not. I know that it can be frustrating not getting much for your tunes. I've been around off and on for over a year, and my main is still lvl 10 with mostly store bought stuff with only one real DM experience for his char growth, but the staff does try to be fair, and favoritism is as minimized as is humanly possible....

I was thinking of posting something quite verbose and silly. Instead I've decided to keep things short and not even mention grammar at all.

                                Thanks, everyone!
