  • A few questions to get me started.

Alright, I just got here. Been trying a lot of different NWN2 servers, but this place is totally new to me. Been reading about history, character submission and so on for an hour now and a few questions have popped up.

    1. How's the RP? In some old post I read that the server was lacking people who actually stayed in character, so that got me a little worried. Does the server still have people from the twentyfirst century running around?

    2. How long does it actually take to get your submission approved?

    3. For how long has this server been up and running?

    4. Uhm ... Right, can't come up with a fourth question. So that's it I guess.

    1. RP has been great so far because of the application process.

    2. Up to a day, sometimes in as little as 20 minutes.

    3. Feb. 10th

      1. It's always interesting how often this question get's asked *smiles*, but then you have to understand that the people who reply and respond on these forums are probably ones who actually care enough about the server to frequent the forums and their views might be slightly biased. In retrospect, those who hate or disapprove of the server may also put their biased opinion *winks*. Either way, I'll give you my observations.

The RP is great, and wonderful. I don't say this casually either Collision and I mean it. For example, on some servers you often have people running around, meeting up and saying hello, how are you, let's kill something and then goodbye. On top of that you have low and high levels and it's as if they themselves are seperated on some level by a particular barrier, as if high levels have their own niche and friends and don't really care to spend time with new-bloods. In one standpoint it's almost logical, I mean you go out hunting and you're not going to take a lvl 3 if you're lvl 9 to go hunt big bad orcs. So naturally you dont' spend as much time roleplaying or standing around with them, there is no chance for that relationship to develop. And then as the low levels become high levels they have their own friends and niche that stayed with them during their growth.

Now on Sundren, I can tell you this from personal experience. Of course you have the people that just want to go around killing for exp and loot. And of course you have the people that form their own little niche and don't wnat to deviate far from it. But I can tell you that most of our population is a group of heavy roleplayers that believe in that first and foremost, roleplaying. You will see high levels sitting around in new-blood areas just chatting away, greeting new adventurers and talking to them; you will see them patrolling the roads and making sure you hot heads don't get yourself killed and yes they will spend hours at time standing around just having fun and roleplaying. Just last night my friends and I spent a good half the night doing nothing but standing in Viridale camp and chatting away. I myself was getting to know a gnome that appeared as "effortless" to me. So when you ask how the RP is here? I say absolutely great, no regrets, no complaints.

No matter what server you try, there will always be the exceptions and the powergamers. People need to understand that; Sundren has it's powergamers but the quality, and quantity of it's actualy dedicated roleplayers dominates when it comes to comparison.

      2. Depends on the time of day, the mood of the DMs looking through the applications and how much sleep they had the other night. Seriously, if you take the time to seriously fill out an application, and not just (I want to play k thx, I am human, pretty, and fighter) then your application will be looked at and responded too. I'm in the IRC channel with DMs alot and they're constantly, hour by hour going through applications. So suffice to say they arn't screwing around, they have alot to do and they'll get to it as soon as possible, just be patient

      3. I have been on Sundren for two to three weeks now and that was right after the official server wipe. If you're asking how long it's actually been around then I can't answer that

      4. Alright then, hope your questions are answered and looking forward to seeing you in-game.

Can honestly tell you, mate, you don't have anything to worry about with the roleplay. It's top notch. Awesome, mature, FUN players creating good quality conversations and stories and everyone seems to have an absolute blast. Been playing at Sundren for about a week now and love it.

I don't think there's been anyone that has just walked passed my character without interacting with her in some way, even if it's just a nod of acknowledgment, and likewise, I try to do the same.

We're not hardcore RP, but we're just in the middle to where you can have fun without being a RP Zealot. I love it.

Except for one or two people who go off on philosophical tangents for hours at a time.

Oh, one more thing. Just logged on, and the gate asks me if I'm a noble or a peasant. I can't really fit my character into any of those categories ... So, uhm, what is it about?

                  Honestly?

It helps determines your starting money. Anything not noble is peasant, in case of doubt. Won't really have much of an impact.

You'll be getting 3 questions which will determine if you get 50 gold for each - one question specific to also getting a free bedroll. Then, you get an extra 200 gold and get tossed either at the Gate of the Sunderer or Port Arvanthyr.

And if a DM isn't on, tell one of the vets you might see running around. Most of them won't mind spotting you a sum of gold to start if the portal screwed you over. Just notify them oocly of the fact and then play out something icly and they'll probably help you out. We all know how hard it is to just start out on this server with nothing and trying to get the very basic of equipment from ol foulbreath.
