  • Small question Mule connected.

(Bits in bold to help Phantom Lamb with his long post rage)

I was just wondering, I know that muling is completely illegal on any server where you can play multiple characters, if you sell something one character has to a shop and then another character of yours later happens to buy that thing from the shop. Is that gonna get you in trouble.

This isn't quite the same as getting awsome loot with a high level PC and dropping it so your new low level PC can log on and pick it up to start with uber gear etc.

    But

There is two ways I see this personally, if you have something like a particularlty decent bit of gear one of your PC's can't use so you then make a PC that it would really pimp up and when they can afford it you sell it to a shop and then buy it back with the other PC.

To me that seems OOC and completely wrong.

The second way I see this and it feels more acceptable is if you are say playing a tank for example and go on a bit of a session and end up with lots of little bits of gear to sell off. You get rid of it all and then log on with a different PC, say perhaps one is a caster and you are shopping and buy some scrolls. It happens one of those scrolls is one your tank sold the store earlier and it's not usually in the store, only there because of your other character selling it.

Are you going to get picked up on this and penalised?

Sorry PL TLDR if you like, I couldn't make it any shorter.

If you're trying to get an item from one of your characters to another without going through a DM its basically against the rules. Selling to shops with the intent to buy it with another character is an end-run around muling, and also against the rules

        Yeah like I thought.

My little question slipped in there is really in reference to the small tiny stuff that isn't worth crap like maybe a mundane dagger or a spell of endure elements or maybe a smiths hammer or a stack of arrows.

This stuff is all crap it's not power gaming or exploiting the system in any way. You just sold it with one PC and happened to realise with another PC that you might fancy buying it.

At that moment do we need to go:

"oh crap I sold that iron ingot to the smithy with my other character, I better go all the way across the server to another shop to buy the ingot I saw there instead incase on a technicality someone picks me up and spit roasts me with a hot poker!"

You know what, forget about it i'm not even sure why I'm asking about this, I'm getting myself completely stressed about a hypothetical nit picky never gonna happen situation.

I'm just in a stress because my wife is giving me harrassment for paying all the bills with my wages and not using it on a holiday. Not my fault she got pregnant and hasn't earned anything for the last 6 months...

        oh hang on it was...

        but ...

        DOH!

It's simple; transferring items from one PC to another is muling and against the server rules.

The moment you think "Hey, my other PC will really be able to make use of this hammer/scroll/weapon/chinchilla.. Why don't I sell it and relog and buy it" you're thinking of muling. That's bad, Mmkay?

I really fail to see how this can be explained in simpler terms.

Direct muling (dropping items somewhere on one PC, relogging and grabbing them with another) = against the rules.
Indirect muling (selling to shops, sticking in a chest, giving to another players PC, then relogging as a different PC and grabbing/buying/getting them) = against the rules.

          Simple.
